Does that Chicago load tester come with it (I know it doesn’t)? I personally don’t like power supplies without built in meters. Are you thinking of joining the big boys on channel 6?

    Really?

I used to build them for half the price and they ain't no battery chargers.

I've also got to warn you guys, when anyone is using a battery tester to test the a power supply, do not buy it.

    Oldironfan and rabbiporkchop Thank this.

I've got the equipment to do so if I ever get an antenna up. I've got Drake L4B that should do the trick. I'm wanting a 100 amp PS for the transistor amps I have or may acquire.

So recommend one. I'm in the market for one.

Cosel Pba1500f-15 or pba1500f-12 are the best I've found. They aren't cheap. Precision voltage without a drop and without noise being generated in your receiver does have a high cost. Cheap power supplies will probably make it difficult to hear anything. Every once in awhile you'll find a good deal on one on eBay being shipped from a laboratory overseas.

100 amps doesn't get you very far on Channel 6.

Okay, I would recommend going with a linear type rather than a switching supply. Here’s a link to an astron 70amp.

    Astron Power Supplies RS-70M

Unfortunately they aren’t cheap like Rabbi said, but I think you would be happier in the long run. If you look to the right side of that website, you’ll notice they offer a 100 amp. The brand is Samlex, which I’m not familiar with, plus it has a develish price too. I have an Astron RS 35M that I’ve used for about 25 years, and it’s never gave me any problems. The down side to the linear power supply is that they weigh a lot more than the switching types. But I believe they are more durable. I’ve had great luck with mine.

Ya, I bet your right. I guess I’m old school enough that I can’t imagine why those guys need so much power. Times have definitely changed.
