In real life, you pull around behind the scale house and park, then you get your log book out and change your duty status to 'On Duty', since you're not driving any more. Then you take a few minutes to collect your paperwork before you walk inside. So yes, you've got 5 minutes or so to get yourself updated. If you're a couple of entries behind, the time it takes to get caught up won't even be noticed.
Bottom line is, if you're operating legally within the HOS guidelines, you won't be hassled over it.
Soon, everyone will be on electronic logs, so this won't be an issue. -
