Been out since Nov 18th...highlighted for home next week, hopeful by Tuesday or so....to me, 4 weeks in the truck is exactly enough.
Haven't seen too much snow or rain but when I did see snow, it was a white out with gale force winds and an empty trailer. I got off the road as quick as I could. Temps were down around zero and wind chill was -20.
Quick trick, don't set the brakes on the trailer if you are on a level road in this kind of cold. they will freeze up. Then it takes some messing around on the cold ground to break them loose. If you have been running, let the trailer brakes cool off to the outside temp, then go ahead and set them.
My pulling over was wise...the next day highway 80 in Nebraska, Iowa and Illinois looked like a truck graveyard. More were on their sides than right side up which tells me they didn't realize how bad that wind was.
Looking forward to 8 days with the family, then back out to play in more snow.
Safe holidays and travels to all in case I don't post again beforehand.

Sounds like your off to a really good start. How have you been doing on miles? Has your truck been good to you so far? So far this winter has been a little cold by Florida standards. Hopefully it won't be a record breaker again like last year. This winter seems to be off to a roaring start just about everywhere.

Where did you shut down? We were in that general area too. We did the same thing, shut down when it got bad. We shut down at the rest area just south of council bluffs on I29 northbound side. -

For XLSDRAW: Miles have been decent. I have been up between 2500 and 2800 and as low as about 1900. The weeks that I return after home time seem to start slow coming out of Florida, but subsequent weeks are better. T600 is fine, a little quirky with some things but I am beginning to live with her quirks and all is good.
For Katey: I was between Lincoln and Omaha. I think you guys had worse snow than we did. Glad you all are safe.
Got home this afternoon...will hit the board again on the 31st. Merry Christmas you all!!!!xlsdraw Thanks this. -

Do you go to Conway yards mostly? Do you do a lot of drop and hook? I should be starting orientation on April 11. I am at aCDL school in GA. How long did it take to get your 7500 miles/your own truck?Last edited: Mar 22, 2011
