CRST beware of this company

RKW, After some further reading, you do make copies of everything you send to the company? Right? If you didn't, start, copy everything you send except what you already have copies of, (like your log book).

I realize that a lot of very poor people get suckered into truck driver training with promises of better incomes and that buying a scanner on the front end to hook up to a laptop is not in the budget. It is the most technically efficient way of covering your ### however.

The first company I worked for had me mail my paper work to them and I made digital copies of everything before I sent it in. I could copy all paperwork in the truck and keep it tidy and safe. It was the postman I was most distrusting of, but fraud can be covered this way too. Using a copy machine is an ok alternative but you'll have to find one and pay for it. I never liked having all my receipts out inside a Flying j when I did electronic filing with the second company I drove for. Too easy to loose something.

The owner of my first truck always told me that he wanted me to manage his truck like it was my truck. He wanted me to see myself as if I ran a one person business. He was always telling me to stand up to my dispatcher and he was right. The best way to run your truck like a business is to make paperwork professionalism a priority. If you are truly dealing with fraud on the part of your trucking company, you will have to leave their employment and solict legal remedies. The law, however, will never make you whole.

The law, civil law, is seldom there for the working man anymore. It use to be somewhat helpful before the republican mentality cut the working mans ability to get legal help via contingency. How they did it I'm not quite sure. I believe what happened is that lawyers found out they could satisfy their clients need for justice, and bleed them for all they were good for. Making money off them easier than if they took a contingence. At the same time the lawyer appeases the republican cry babies whom were mad at attorneys for filing suits. I beleive this went down around the time of Speaker of the House Newturer Gingrage was in office.

I'm neither a democrat or a republican. As it is being said,"they r two wings of the same bird."

There has been no change in a lawyer's ability to accept contingency fees that I know of. In the case at point where a company driver or contract driver alleges improper payment there would hardly be a large enough sum of money in any potential award to warrant a contingency fee. If the trucking company were found to have underpaid by even $10,000, the lawyers cut might be 1/3 to 1/2. That isn't much money for a lawyer. Even at $5,000 divided by $250 per hour that only gives the lawyer 20 hours of work product before he/she loses money.

The lawyer bashing I hear sometimes makes me wonder why if law is so darn profitable that truckers everywhere don't turn in their keys and go to law school. I've got a CDL with solo OTR in 43 states and a law degree I've never used so I feel justified in bad mouthing both industries but it can hardly be a lawyers fault that he wasn't consulted on the front side.

Humans are generally optimistic and naive. If they weren't we wouldn't constantly be reading questions here from potential new drivers asking us if all the bad stuff they read might just have gone away from the trucking industry the day before they irrationally decided they had no income opportunities worth pursuing other than truck driving.

i called crst yesterday to find out how much it would be to pay my contract
cause i got a better offer from another job
they told me to pay it off is $4000 and on top of that they sent me to school so i cant use my license untill i pay off that money in full
right now crst has this pre diam if you work for .22 cpm
they take off 2 cent pay u 20 cent and tax you on 10 cent
they say u go home with more money i just cant see it .
thats y i wanted to leave

 

I may have said lawyers have some how been restricted from taking on contingency's, if I did I didn't mean there was a law made. I meant there may be an unwritten rule, argreement, and if this is not the case they simply find it easy enough to agree to take ones case, and not preform because there r few if any legal malpractice lawyers out their to protect the public. The purpose of my comment was to convey a basic idea, that's all.

U might serve society better by taking on contingency's or rather than working for $250.00 reduce your hourly $125.00 an hr. We could use the help.

It is good to hear from a lawyer on this subject. I'm glade u could get a job in truck drive'n.

Did you take my advice and call that Company? Don't post the name on here cause you never know who is reading these from the Company. Also, never put your Truck # on here.

You got more experience with commercial driving than I have, you should have no issue finding something else. CRST cannot do anything with your license, the only thing they can do is hold your certificate from driving school. By my estimations, in two months you will have 6 months of OTR experience...as will I since we were in the same class. Once you hit your 6 Month Mark, call CFI, they will take you without the certificate. You don't need proof of schooling once you hit 6 months with most companies.

If something falls thru with this new place for me, and I end up having to stay at CRST, I will contact you, cause if you haven't found a co-driver by then, maybe we can work it out and team up.

Also, check the forums for the posts about Louisa.....someone actually posted pictures of the "Kitchen" and it made me have nightmares...lol
