I finally got my bill from CRST. Funny thing is that a day later, I got a letter offering a $1500 bonus to come back to CRST. On the flipside, USA Truck says they have ways of working around something like CRST's contract...

How does being a US veteran justify anything in your post ?? You must of not been a very good or honorable serviceman if you ended up homeless..being a veteran really gives you no special perks over a non-veteran..If I was hiring people I would be more concerned why you were homeless..

Bigdogpile, there are plenty of Veterans who were honorably discharged that wound up homeless. Discharge status has nothing to do with a veteran's ability to find work out in "The World" after dealing with combat situations.

And being an Honorably discharged combat veteran USED to offer perks. As it should. Anybody who has volunteered to step forth and protect my dumb tailfeathers without ever meeting me, and survived, deserves far better than we offer our vets in this country.

Don't thank me, gang. I'm not a veteran. Volunteered twice (PA National Guard with an eye on going Army after high school, later USAF), got booted both times in Basic due to medical issues.

I just find it absolutely deplorable the way this country casts its war vets aside like so many broken toys. Seems like the government is saying to our troops "We can't send you to die anymore, so you have no further value to us." And that is wrong. Anybody, regardless of race, religion, sex, color, creed, or sexual orientation, who is willing to stand the line between me and those who wish to destroy me, has my respect, my support, and my undying gratitude.

    icepick Thanks this.
