you most likely have many options (depending on your work history, criminal record, etc). you have chosen one of the 2 companies that get bad reviews more than good reviews to the tune of 50+ to 1. while id tell you not to listen to a bad review here or there...not to take the word of one or 2 strangers (ALL companies have someone who doesnt like them), those statistics are so overwhelming i would never think of working for them unless they were the very last option i had. the other company, by the way, is cr england.

worse than the choice to DRIVE for the company would be to agree to a lease purchase with either of these 2. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES BUY A TRUCK FROM THEM UNLESS YOU PAY CASH!!!!!!!!! both of these companies have proven so many times that their lease purchase program is crooked as heck. you WILL get burned, no question.

im not one of those who says no one can succeed with a lease purchase, but it must be THOROUGHLY researched. talk to at least 10 drivers doing it currently.

I love seeing all of this CRST bashing... my friends buddys grandmas uncles brother said it sucks. Ive been here, and all of the trouble we have had has been related to Vovlvos disregard for manufacturing a truck worth driving. Sure, people have had trouble here. Sure there are people not getting miles, 98% prcent of the time, theres a reason for it. My co and I do notihng but run and get miles. Does the pay suck? Sure, for the forst 6 months. How much did i pay for school ?? Oh YEahhhhhhh, thats right..NOTHING. My co driver has a friend who went through school with him and chose to go with another company. Guess what he does the majority of his time ?? SIT. Regardless of what spurned ex drivers say, my experience here has been fine. The biggest thing here is, do you want to team ? If not, stay away.

That is a funny reply! One need only look at the FMCSA SMS site to see how a carrier is: DOT 53773, CRST Expedited, 98137, CRST Dedicated, and 105790 CRST Malone. This is information NOT passed on through "my friends buddys grandmas uncles brother said it sucks". I sat through one of the Contract schools CRST uses. Their (CRST) standards are abysmal at best!
I paid for my own school. NO contract required, giving me the ability to choose what ever company I wanted. I decided to run team with my wife at Landstar!
I have seen and talked to many CRST drivers and Most talk about how badly they dislike where they are!

    Pameee & Mudsun...

CRST, aka "Crash, Roll and Stunt Team" has earned their negative safety rating. In spades. There are a lot of people who will complain about the driving style of certain company drivers (yes, i know its not 100% the company's fault) but I can honestly say that of the maybe 10 or so potentially really nasty, if not deadly situations that my husband and i have encountered over the last year, at least 7 were with CRST trucks. And I will 100% emphatically state, that NOT ONE of those was our fault. Not even close.

All BS aside, I have made mistakes out here that could have gotten someone hurt, I would be lying if I said I hadn't. I felt terribly each and every time. I could have gotten someone hurt, or even killed. Both times I attempted to reach the other truck via CB and apologize, one time the driver was understanding about it, the other guy blistered my ears and suggested I go back to raising babies and cooking dinner :) but CRST seems to foster an attitude of "so what" in regard to what happens out here. They don't seem to care about their company reputation or the reputation of their VERY unsafe drivers. Any time we reached one over the CB to ask the universal question "WTF", they were rude and hostile, never ONCE did any of them mutter so much as an insincere "sorry". They just don't care.

You should think carefully about aligning yourself with that company, because from here on out, any company that is considering hiring you is going to see that you were trained at CRST, and their reputation speaks for itself...Do you really want it to speak for you as well?

I understand the desire to just get started already..but don't shoot yourself in the foot doing it. Take your time and find a better way.

    Bottom line?
I see those letters "crst" on a truck or trailer I have to walk down and I get very, very nervous. If your lucky, all that will happen is they will come over on you, but as long as your expecting it, you can deal.

I think CR England is the worst company out there with CRST coming in a close second. I'd rather team than be forced to flease.

Depends on how you are basing this. In what I have observed, on the road, Most england drivers seem respectful of others. Not what I have experienced with the CRST ones. If you base this on what DOT.FMCSA has to say about the two then CRST wins this dubious award hands down!

i find it amusing that everyone gets their bloomers bunched up about someone wanting to start a CReST.
you gotta start somewhere, and "what is horrible to one, is delightful to another" :biggrin_25522:

if you want to start there, go ahead i hope it works for you, if you start somewhere else, i hope it seems to be a better choice and no matter where you start, if you're driving after 2 years, then it was good no matter where you started......

disclaimer : No animals were insulted in the typing of this post as they left when they saw me coming

Hmmm, can you link me to the section of FMCSA site that tells me about how driver pay, miles available, etc ?? Seems to be missing FMCSA score does NOT a company make. Plenty of companies have a better score, but yet their drivers are MISERABLE. If I based my deicion solely on ex drivers and fmcsa scores, i'd be miserable right now. So if that is the only reasoning you can come up with, other than " ive talked to plenty of their drivers".... I can just as easily say that ive
talked to plenty of landstar drivers, but that would be a lie, because the only reason im stopping at truck stops is to fuel
shower and back down the road in my gold toaster....

With the exception of the last two weeks because Volvo warranty work is a joke.... haha
