There is a huge need to inform people who are interested in a driving career not to start with CRST. I paid for my "CDL" and went to work for CRST. As soon as I arrived in Carlisle pa for oreintation I new I was in trouble. Almost everything my recrurter had told me had changed. And I was dealing with a CRST employee. My experence with my trianor was nothing less than scary if not dangerous. I made it through 3 months with them and have moved on. The only thing I can say is CRST is not alone in the industry and there "SOP" is not unique. Pass the word to be careful. You might save someone alot of money and heartache. BE SAFE and keep it between the ditches

This help me so much my husband was about to go to Fontana this friday and when I started to look up this forum I was so shock. he gave up a $79.000 a year job to get this dream job now all we have is disappointment. Now he looks for a new job because his pride will not let him go back to his old job and they want him back ...what a mess to mislead like the joke of a recruiter did to us ..

Tomorrow is day 28 of training, ending up in Miami. They are now saying have to do a road test?? What is this about? Had CDL for 11 years now. Did 2 weeks training, then Orientation, right out for the 28 days, which ends tomorrow. Assumed was going home this weekend, but they have no idea what is goign to happen.

Trainer goes on home time this weekend, he lives in Miami. Will I end up dumped in that area until they decide if I can go home or have to do this road test?

Also, while tomorrow is day 28, load gets dropped tomorrow early am. Does this mean anything?

  6. The CRST story on 20/20 or 60 minutes was real inlightening! You can Im sure find it on youtube if wanting to see it. I have a very good friend that worked for this toilet of an outfit. He lasted 10 months. They burned him so bad, He totally gave up on trucking. He was getting the 11 cents a mile scam, The threat if he left to soon of owing the thousands of dollars for his sub par training/school they do. Was pulled for retest at DMV for an audit and since CRST has lost their ability to self administer testing for your license. Look at there trucks they run. Steel front rims. They put no money into their trucks. If you idle to much they threaten to take money out of your check. If you happen to go to New Jersey they make you pay for all the tolls than slow pay you back. The list goes on and on about these blood suckers. I felt bad for my friend. He is a good guy. They made his attitude so sour when he was working for them.

i work for crst now and make .31 cpm my co driver makes .22. the pay isn't split the miles are.and most of the time after my paycheck ive called my dispatcher and he explained how pay works.they take out .12cpm and give back .10.that is their per diem program.so in other words you add up the split miles from your loads (which they actually paid me more than half most of the time) in my case i would multiply that total by .19 then multiply that by .85(for taxes) that amount gets added to the split miles multiplied by .10 tax free.

so let's say i ran 2500 miles that week(my individual average)

    2500 X .19 = 475

    475 X .85(taxes) = 403.75

    then for per diem

    2500 X .10 = 250

    403.75 + 250 = 653.75

this ain't too far away from my average...sitting and waiting on a load?
i send just about every macro you can think of that applies to my situation and most of the time my dispatcher is pretty good with sending us a load before we even send in the arrival call.and i'm not afraid to call him on the phone when i have a question for him.of course its with a polite tone.they know me pretty well and ive only been running with them for 2 months.hell i just went in the building to meet the guy yesterday and all went well.you just have to keep notifying them through the qualcomm.my first partner just assumed they know everything, they don't know #### unless you tell them.so its a good thing to keep communication open.

I am currently at the end of my 28 day training stint, and the ONLY thing i have to complain about is the criteria for trainers. Come monday i will be on to the 3rd trainer. The first trainer liked to yell and swear at you when he felt like it. I called dispatch, and without any hesitation or grief the got me out of the truck. Now on to the 2nd trainer he was a nice guy and was a good driver, but could not instruct to save his life. I am now just like when i got off the 1st truck put up in a hotel on their dime till i get a new trainer. If you have ANY sense you can do well with the $50 a day they pay you in training. Heck i have 5 days left on my 28 and have over $500 on my comdata card. It only costs me $28 a week in road expenses. CRST has backed up their end to the letter. There have been no shady things. I have noticed that your freight manager can either make things easy or hard depending on their ability. Reimbursements are prompt, but some of the "recruiter lies" usually are from policy change not communicated to the OUTSIDE recruiters. My recruiter was a company employee and she was very informative and didnt leave anything out. She was up front in letting me know that since i have 0 experience that the training program will have me away from home for 3 months. So like i said i knew what i was getting into and am glad to be here and thankful for CRST.

P.S. the loads are preplanned before you drop the one you are on usually and they will run you as much as you can handle.

Bull. This company is the worst ever. I worked for them for 5 months making on average...enough to eat. Lost my home, etc working for them. It was always one of two things: I was teamed up with idiots that ditched me on the road (company doesnt ever allow you to be solo with less than 6 months...), or I had a teammate and we were doing alright but we were being dispatched with miles that i would complain about now as a solo driver.

I was forced to run teams + given crappy solo miles that i'd complain about as solo. I was paid 21 cpm (23cpm -2 cpm for the forced per diem, which fyi is illegal). That pay at those miles isnt much! Some weeks we were getting 1000 miles and it was no fault of our own.

I work for Werner now making $800 to $900 a week. I'm solo now, but other than that, I have exactly the same work ethic and style. I get the job done as long as it's legal to do so. I know when to keep the door closed. Hell, sometimes i stop every 2 hours...still make good money.

And ok, I whine sometimes about werner. But that's trucking for you. The companies all suck to an extent, and you get a lot of time to yourself when you're on line 2 to think about how much you hate them!

So what happened? I didn't change myself. Just the people i worked for.
