Just got back from my Lead Driver. Boy my lead driver wasn't the best but he thought me a few. He was a owner operator so i understand if he couldn't teach me everything. He also needed to clean up his truck badly with Lysol lol. Hopefully, I do good on the road on my own and stick it out with CRST for 1 year or more for experience and I'm try to go local or FedEx Critical or a better company. Good luck to all you students. To all you students most likely you will get home past 28 days of your training. You WILL have layovers.

Congrats to ya , be sure to take blankets , pillows , and lysol ...... Really you should try to stay out of the truck stops when it comes time to eat . Buy a small cooler and buy ice bags when you need it ... You will go broke trying to eat at those truck stops ... Buy hot dogs and lunch meat cheese and bread at wally world , What you spend there at wally world would be a meal at some truck stops . I used 20.00 dollars or so and would be able to get enough food for a couple of days in my cooler .. Remember your truck will be moving .. Get out you map book they will give you after orientation & learn how to identify scales coming up on the road ahead . Also be sure you know how to keep your log book up to date. because ignorance is not an excuse to highway patrol. They will fine you i.e. give ya a ticket . And make sure you get enough time behind the wheel backing into the docks , this is very important. Note take some foot powder for those shoes ...lol Good luck I did my time with CRST and drove a lot of the roads here in this country , i'll tell you this i forgot how beautiful our country is.:biggrin_25525:

well im almost 6 months in and im on my way to Trans Am to lease for a while till im able to afford my own rigg. crst makes u wait a year to lease but they have given me my experience. thanks to my trainer roy, im a ###### driva. REMEMBER GUYS. CRST IS A TRAINING COMPANY 6 MONTHS TO A YEAR AND GET DA #### OUT. If u follow my tips earlier in this thread then your months will b good. and yes noobs, stay away from truck stops and walk as much as u possibly can. also take ur hometome EVERY MONTH. or u will get burned out.

Well, I'm back from training and having my 1st co driver. If you are in the process of being hired by CRST and in contract make sure you finish the 8 months. It looks better if you leave after 8months on your resume and you still make some money instead of losing 4grand. And no you cant leave 1day before your 8 months is over. It will take time to find the right co-driver. My first co driver wasnt that bad but i did not feel safe with him (he served jail time and has 5gun wounds in him lol). So i just found a new one after the first month. Once you find the right co-driver let the journey begin. It doesnt really start till you learn more then what your trainer tought you if he tought you anything lol. The point is keep driving and don't give up. You will find sometimes CRST will give you strange directions. Use the map and your instincts, if that doesnt work its teamwork time, if that doesnt work qualcomm time. If your co driver neglects you in anyway and just wants his way get a new partner and save the arguments. My first month i made about $1400-1500 (net worth) dollars at 22cents. Was in a 2man team still is. The longer you stay out the more miles you get from what i hear including how your dispatcher works. Also i hear there is an option for salary pay after 6-8months ($700 per week) is the salary. Good luck and safe trips.

Best thing to do is what you read above get a fridge and dry foods, can foods. I bought a bunch of canned salmon, some bread at Walmart, canned corn, Campbell soups, and ready to eat canned/plastic fruit, pudding, bars, bottled water (vitamin water, etc), spoons you can stock up at truck stops they usually have em lol. I don't know if i saved money but sometimes you should eat at subway lol. You will need hot foods at some point. Anyways, if anyone got good tips on what foods to bring each trip please tell all lol.

the pay is 22cents per mile (contract), after 6-8months 33cents per mile. It doesnt really get higher than 33cents after that. Im hoping the salary pay is true after 6-8months. Im all in for that for a few months lol.
