A failed drug test would have the same result on most if not all companies, does that make every company bad?

Actually I've defended CRST on more than one occasion, especially on issues of training and pay. I'll say it now and again, they got me a trainer in less than two days and he was a really great guy. They also paid me twice a week and never left a dime off of my comdata. I can't say the same for Swift. I'm not at anything, I call them how I see them. Unfortunately, more often than not, CRST is on the receiving end of criticism because of the way they choose to operate. Thats all there is to it...
As for the issue of the student being stranded because he failed a drug test, that has nothing to do with CRST being a ###### company. No matter what starter company you go to, you'll be #### out of luck if you fail a drug test or lie and don't disclose background information. And rightfully so. If you're stupid enough to show up for a DOT drug test with a controlled substance if your system, you deserve to be thrown out on your ###. That goes double for the morons who have a string of felonies and tell their recruiter they've never even been arrested...Emulsified and JohnBoy Thank this. -
I'm not going to defend a megacarrier for anything except this. You do drugs, you lie on an application, you are no longer their problem. I bring you out to my company on my dime to train you how to drive and give you a job, you had better be on the up & up. I don't feel bad for people who fail a drug screen when applying for a job and learning they've screwed themselves. Grow up already.chalupa, Lone Ranger 13, Kwaione and 2 others Thank this.

I just find it funny how you harp on their "illegal contracts". Overlooking also the fact that the trucking industry is exempt from the FLSA (you can thank our ancient predecessors for that). As far as the hireright crap, there is a class action, from which, if settled, most will end up with about 50 bucks, after the lawyers scrape their 30-40% off the top.

I worked for them for 3 months. I got my notice about the lawsuit. It won't make up for how I had to rely on cash advances the entire time I was there just so I could eat because I was getting #### for miles and had to sit for days between loads 80-90% of the time, all while sharing the truck with someone I barely knew and didn't like. Serves me right for agreeing to work for an all team carrier. But 200 bucks is better than nothing.
TruckerOllie Thanks this. -
I don't make the big bucks where I am now by any means, but the miles are awesome, I'm treated well, nobody bugs me on the qualcomm or the phone, I don't have any problems getting home, and I'm almost always given plenty of time to pick up and deliver on time. Checks always go in the bank on time, and the only time I touch the tank is when i drop and/or hook and when I do my pretrip. I don't touch hoses, I don't open anything, I don't take anything off, etc. When I go to load/unload or get a washout I sit in the truck. That's where they want you to be most of the time anyway.

From what i've witnessed of the actions of crst drivers on the road, its a scumbag company in need of being wiped off the face of the earth.TruckerOllie Thanks this.

Exactly! Watch, observe, compare. Common responses from observing.... Wow! Holy crap! Dang driver! ....

The trucks are always dirty, their Cedar Rapids training facility reminds you of a 1950's run down military base. They crowd 3 to a room while I had my own room across the hall. Listening to them in the morning while waiting for the orientation bus was quite entertaining. Nothing but bickering about the piece of crap lease truck they got held together with duct tape. The majority of the students are in their early 20's. I bet if stats were kept on pre-employment drug test failures, CRST would win hands down because that's what they attract. They don't attract many experienced drivers.
2011 stats, CRST trucks averaged monthly 12,938 miles per truck teaming. That's 6469 a driver or 1617 miles a week.
The thing about megacarriers tend to have better scores is because of strength in numbers. You take a small company with 4 trucks and one failed inspection and they are at 25%. How many megacarriers are going to get inspected the same day or frequency? For example CRST has about 2000 trucks. They would need 500 trucks inspected that same day to compare fairly to that company. It just doesn't happen that way. For them reasons them scores aren't really a true reflection of a companies actions compared to others. Megacarriers will always have an advantage when it comes to inspections. 2011 they had about 1000 OoS which is a whole bunch. They had 5 fatalities which 1 is unacceptable to me.
Where's AfterShock at? He'll verify they are a bottom feeder.
