We grossed $3211 per week. Chiricahua didn't stick around very long.
Our buddy has 2 trucks and some trailers, with CRST. We are also looking to add a truck, or some trailers. We are also thinking of rocks and hay.
We have a shelved number we can always revive. I like the way you think!
CRST Malone (Flatbed Division) SUCKS!

Yep, that's why I got trashed for saying I had a problem with people taking advantage of fuel cards.
You can't truck if you don't have fuel.
Shorting fuel cards torques me off, beyond belief. The fuel card is for the truck. Tires, parts, fuel, etc. I allot 40% to the truck.
It's not for cash at the casino. This is the only thing my husband does, periodically, that twists my knickers. If there's 2k on the comcard, it's for fuel and emergencies. I'll be ###### if he doesn't spend 200 at a casino.
I had to get on to him. This year, I may take more, stash in savings and transfer back.
He's won money at the casino. $1800, once. Paid for truck parts. I just don't want casino money coming from the truck account. -
The only guy I know close to 248k has 2 trucks and he makes more.
You are mistaken about trucks. Agent trucks
are not leased and agent trucks run all the time.
You really know nothing about this company. The agents own trucks and run them as O/O's. They load those trucks before anyone. O/O AGENT trucks get loaded first...
in our area, l/p trucks get the loads no one wants.
Do some more research. -
Yup CRST MALONE drove me to almost being bankrupt.. Copelands office in OKC,OK runs his own trucks and gives what might be left to other trucks. I own my truck and my own trailer and it felt like I was being ignored. CRST MALONE was not getting money from me for truck payments so they did not care if I made money or not. Getting my own loads was easy , but after paying the broker percentage and CRST's percentage ( 25% ) I was getting next to nothing. If CRST would fix the problem with Agents holding all the good freight for their own trucks it would be a decent company. I made great money during the spring and summer but rates and freight dropped.
I'm at Landstar now and my first 2 weeks I have already grossed more then I did in 3 months at CRST... no loads below $2.14 a mile to the truck. I took a Canadian load from Chino , California to Calgary Alberta for $4856.00 to the truck for only 1536 miles..... I should have come to Landstar many months ago -
Wow you done a real 180 from your posts 6 months ago even said you had worked at landstar before and they were a big rip off. So can we get the rest of the story.
-
Your absolutely RIGHT. A complete 180. 10 years ago the internet was not available like it is today. 10 years ago we did not have good access to load boards as we do today.
I was first making money at Malone. Then Fall came . Rates dropped as well at freight. Typical stuff. I never expected to be thrown under the bus by crst agents because I own my own equipment. Using internet truckstop as we all know is cheap rates. So I investigated Landstar again. 10 YEARS is a LONG time. So I gave them another shot. So far I'm happy. Winter rates are great and an abundant amount of loads available. The landstaronline is awesome with many tools to.help you be profitable.
Yes I had a bad experience at landstar 10 YEARS AGO . But that was a long time ago. I'm impressed with them so far . I'll know more in 6 months. Hopefully it remains good. -
That's the rest of the story.

i just got the same sales pitch that domino got from these guys.
It sounds good on paper.
He said you get $2.02 a mile in pay.
and you end up paying about 750 a wk for the truck and trailer.
So do you pay for any truck repairs? or do they?
do they take taxes out of the gross pay you recieve, or do they let you deduct your fuel and truck expenses before they tax you?
like i might get 4 grand a week in pay, before i pay for fuel and the truck.
but 2 grand of that will go towards fuel. and if i loose 1,000 of that 4 grand to taxes, then i'm not making much at all. -
Thank you for the clarification. Being on injured reserve at the present allows me alot of time to read alot of post and your only the second driver to come back and fill in the rest of the story,
-
I personally own my own truck and trailer. A buddy of mine leased a red.freightliner from.crst and paid big time for a beat up truck. To anyone wanting to buy a truck. Save up and buy a truck. Lease purchases make the companies money. The truck is paid for many times more than what its worth usually. No they don't hold out taxes , your a owner operator !! All expenses are up to you.
Here is an example. Ok, you find no CRST loads available so you look on internet truckstop or landstar broker etc. You find a load from landstar. Well you have 100% ....landstar takes their 25% plus an additional 7 to 11% off the.top because your not a landstar operator. Then crst Malone takes an additional 25% off the load. Your left with the rest. Not much left after you just lost a lot off the top. Right now there are not many loads on the crst load board so you have to.find your own freight. Meaning you WILL loose a lot of revenue .....
Loads I was offered paying $1.25 a mile are being offered to me now at 2.03 a mile to the truck . The SAME DAM LOAD !!!!! How can this be ???
