Glad to know that at least someone is getting some training. The guy that was teamed with my husband was not trained for beans. I do not want my husband to be teamed with this guy at all. But it has been hard for him to find a different co-driver from our area. He needs someone who can fill out their own log book, read a map or directions, the list goes on and on. I was starting to think that their training program was just a joke. As for time off, my husband does 4 - 5 weeks out, home for 5 days.

Hah yea some of the CRST Drivers scare me. What area are u from? I'm out of the Fontana terminal. Right now I have an awesome co driver I met in school so we do awesome together.

Out of OKC yard. So far he has had 2 co-drivers that are not real interested in keeping the truck moving. He needs someone interested in making a pay check not checking out every truck stop restroom and restuarant. Otherwise CRST has been pretty good to us.

I am actually more interested in stopping at rest stops so there arent all the distractions of the truck stops. My co driver and I will hopefully leave out this coming thursday. Our other driver will start his 10 days off that day. I dont know about your husband but I was told that this is a company for trainees. I expect to be asked questions and hopefully wind up with a co driver that will allow me to ask them back. Map reading isnt always easy but i'm glad i have my military experience to fall back on. Maps are only as current as last year anyway. Lots of construction changes the routes. Sounds to me like you may want to be his co-driver. That way you can make sure he makes a pay check LOL. Good luck

Yea my military experience works for me too on the mechanical side as I'm a c130j crew chief in the air guard. I'm on my way back to Cali for hometime I'm hoping I can drop this load early in Indio ca and get a load towards bakersfield to take the truck home. Good luck on the road and keep it between the lines also drive at night less traffic and scales are sometimes closed and keep ur logs and other stuff in check as the 72 hour blitz starts today.

yea some of the trainers shouldnt even be training, i had a good trainer with 15 years exp and 10 years with safe driving awards. My co driver also had a good trainer that made the training easy. Routing isnt very hard but the directions on the qualcomm can be messed up sometimes and a little confusing. I use my iphone a lot to help me find shippers.

Hi there BF here, It's great I like it, I had though a lot on changing companies but I will stay for a while, Im making more here than I would somewhere else, also started talking to dispatch about becoming a trainer.
Many people go into training in order not to deal with the cdr bit.
But many of them do a loosy job,
because all they want is the xtra money, Bad deal for the students.
In my opinion the individual is a spoke person for his / she position.
It is my belief that if anyone want to be good at what they do, shall applied themself to it.
That is the reason why I had consider on going into be a lead driver.
