I am looking to get into trucking this summer after I finish my school bus year. Since I don't have the money for a CDL school, I am forced to endure my first year with a company sponsored school and be a slave for my first year. I hear it gets better after the first year and so, far, from what I've read, this seems to be true.
I spoke with someone at www.BigTrucksBigBucks.com and he said that the best way to go is with CRSTand all the others were junk driver mills.
I hear horrile things about CRST and good things. Fact it, I hear horrile and good things about them all!
Seems like it's luck of the draw.![]()

Really Traveler51 at your age I would expect you would know that whom ever you spoke with at BigTrucksBigBuck gets paid for sending you to CRST. The best thing about them compared to the other training company's is that you only sign a 8 month contract.
I looked at your other post's here you complain about the kids on your bus at CRST you will be living with one of them kids for 8 months as they are a Team company. I started with CRST did there training school completed my 8 month contract and have moved on to a better company. I would NOT recommend CRST to anyone other than as a dead last resort. You are currently a school bus driver and stated that the job end at the end of the school year, Do you qualify for unemployment during summer vacation if so check with the unemployment office as here in Indiana they will pay for CDL training. Another optin for you would be if you have a 401k or IRA account that you can borrow against to pay for school. Hope things work out for you what ever you should decide.Traveler51 Thanks this. -
So where is your blog?

Thanks for the sage wisdom! I do appreciate all the advice I can get here.

CRST pays twice a week. does that mean you pay more taxes? i had a former co driver who swore by that. says his lead driver did the math. he only took his pay once a week.

If you made 400 on thrusaday and 400 on tuesday your paying taxs on 800 dollars. If we Got paid one day a week and your check 800 dollars your paying taxs on 800 dollars.
So no your not paying more in tax -
I misstated when I said blog. I meant my thread My rotten CRST experience. I have had good experiences and bad at crusty. I had one great trainer and one I wouldn't recommend. I made some great friends in training and in orientation. Do I recommend them? No, although their lease program is pretty good from what I have seen. They are all older company trucks. Pay sucks starting out and you got to team drive with total strangers.
