Interesting, do you really think that they don't do background checks, or their the only company that has felons and drug addicts?? Or that you'll avoid these things anywhere else??

You can expect to make 200-300 a week there at crst. You will have to re-pay all your schooling, contract obligations, any hotels, and the lunch they feed you while there.

They'll pay you 12 cents per mile until ALL your dues are paid.

As far as the blood pressure thing is concerned, don't worry about it. But do make sure you're taking your meds before you go in for your physical.

    Good Luck.

    Starting out is not easy.

Correction. You'll have to repay hotel and transportation at the rate of $40 a week, after you've been driving for 6 weeks. School itself is paid for, providing you fulfill an 8-month contract. Leave before contract and you'll have to repay the school.

Correction. You're paid $.22 per mile, split. Meaning if the truck runs 5000 miles in a week, you get paid $.22 per mile for 2500 of those miles. That's $550 gross. Even at 4,000 miles a week for the truck (low), it's $440. No, it's nothing to cheer about, but it's a starting income in an industry where a driver can make good money with time and effort and experience.

    Spot on there.

Again, spot on. Trucking can be a very lucrative industry for a driver if the driver is willing to put in the work and get the experience. But it's a bloody tough job and definitely not for everyone. Those that can stand the indocrination process into the industry as a whole, usually have the thick skin to perservere and do really well, in time. One of my biggest pet peeves, though, are newbies into the industry thinking that "hell, I can't get another job, I might as well try trucking" and then think it's one big vacation. Truck drivers as a whole are some of the hardest working people in the nation. If you're going to get into it, you better be one tough S.O.B.

Yea, yea i know. That's the way it's supposed to be. You broke it down and got technical. The guy is asking how much $$$ we think he'll make. The truth is, 200-300 per week. BOTTOM LINE. I know, i trained for crst for 1 year. I made money, the students did not. I really got burned out though. Teaming is not easy. Especially running all that LTL freight you guys have.

I hardly ever slept. Drove half asleep 95% of the time. Lucky i'm still alive. Students where always getting involved in minor accidents here n there.

At least i can say that when i first started, i was pretty good. Being that i had gotten my cdl a few months earlier at the cost of about $4000.

5 years later, i'm still trucking.

The way csa is going, we'll see if i'm still "able" to truck in a few more years.

I still don't make more than 30k a year btw.

That's the key right there. My fear is that in the next 18-24 months, the only carriers that will still be alive will be training companies. And that's going to ultimately hurt, if not destroy, the entire industry. Last one out, shut the lights off please!

CSA is the worst - absolute WORST - government f***-up EVER. They still have absolutely ZERO idea what they have created.

Yep. It is hurting the industry. How the heck is anybody supposed to make any money?

What i mean is, If there is no available drivers to put on your board,(driver shortage) no big name customers willing to do business with your carrier (because the CSA encourages them not to if the score is bad) What are trucking companies supposed to do?

    Don't forget the

    EPA
    CARB
    DOT
    FMCSA
    IFTA
    2290 HIGHWAY TAX
    FUEL PRICES
    RIDICULOUS MAINT COSTS...
    MAP 21
    PILOT PROGRAM
    STALE RATES FROM 70s
    COST OF LIVING AND INFLATION

Stand there and polish their trucks? Just so they can look pretty?
