I'm trying to get information about CRST Trucking. I have never driven and apparently CRST is going to train me to do so with an 8 month commitment attached.
I live in Brooklyn, New York and I'm single. So getting home is not vidal but I do have to come home sometime. Will that be easy or will I be stuck out West or in the mid-west all the time. Second how is the company to work for as a new driver? And last, is the company diverse, I mean when it comes to race, creed, gender and sexual orintation. Being from the libral north-east it's important to me. I can't and will not work for biggits.
This is a long ways to go to be dissapointed. So I want to get some solid advise from some solid and knowlegable drivers.
Thanks for reading this and look forward to hearing from you all.
God Bless and Thank You for your Time

I never saw CRST much in NYC while I lived there, and I worked out of Maspeth. Saw the likes of swift, england and alot of conway truckload. The reviews will be mixed on any OTR starter company. But I advise you to go get your CDL on your own as if you quit before the contract is up you still have to pay them as if you going to get it on your own in the first place, possibly even more.
There is a driving school in astoria i think, not sure how good they are. But thats my advice to any newbie trying to get into the industry. Everything has strings attached. -
Thanks boss. You have given me alot to think about. I was looking for schools when I saw this offer. I guess I really need to weigh the pros and cons more. Have a great day out there and be safe

you had better darned well seek out places RIGHT NOW, for parking that thing...NYC ain't that easy. Now think of a long nosed truck, and 53 foot trailer.
I wish you well, but you had better think long and hard on the "little things".
Also, if the other responder hasn't seen too many of thier trucks in the area, could also spell that they WILL NOT get you home. the freight will ALWAYS be MORE important than a driver's home time. -
What does" liberal" and " biggot" have to do with anything? First of all, that " liberal " jazz is anti-American and you can find " biggots" anywhere, in any company.
I'm pretty sure you mean " racist"...and well...racist people are equally scattered about everywhere...even in the northeast.
Is the company " diverse"?
Does that mean you won't work in a company that is 90% white? ..or Asian, or different from your race?
Does that mean they are automatically racist or " biggots"?
or...perhaps it just so happen that 90% of the qualified applicants happen to be of one particular race?
What if it's 90% black?....that would probably be ok, but if it's 90% white, it's probably a racist company?
It's wierd you just randomly added that little part. Why not just ask " what is the best trucking company in NYC to work for"?CenutryClass Thanks this. -
I never even read that part, the racist card or the bigotry.
He had better NOT be of a certain race then and apply at a southern trucking company, eh ???
I can see the sparks fly now!!
