I am currently and unfortunately a "crusty" I am what you would say doing my time with this company until I finish my contract. Hopefully I'll live through this 8 months I'm only on month 3... They have screwed me on my pay, reimbursments, miles, hometime. This company will Chew you up and spit you out. And you gotta admire the college boy dispatcher that talks to you like you're retarded. My POS freightliner has been in the shop 6 times in a month and dispatch left me stranded on the side of the road for 12 pathetic hours before any help showed up under a high value load, it has costed me money in hotels and I'm not getting it back. I've actually been making negative money?? And forced to live off advances WUTTA JOKE. I was sent to a terminal in Pennsylvania to pickup a "new" truck. Hahah ok first when I get there I get yelled at by this old grumpy ####### because I walked in the shop and I just needed to ask someone in charge where that truck is... I thought to myself "I'm feelin the love" anyway I get to the truck and it wasn't even FREAKING WORKING!!! AND IT LOOKED LIKE IT JUST SURVIVED A WAR!! Atleast the one I have now and I'm currently laying in the sleeper as I write this has purdy fresh spray painted white wheels hahaha and the inside is in good shape. She just needs some engine work... but yea god forbid I wasn't getting in that truck I just kept the one I had and got the hell outta there. I went to the sanctuary Flying J!...... on a good note my codriver is great we met in trucker school in Dallas and we are the same age and from the same area in Texas so we work good together. Another good note is I'm proud to be a trucker I've wanted to be one since I was 5 here I am 23 years old. But like I said I'm doin my time and moving on to a company that knows the definition of productivity and professionalism... long story short, god have mercy on your soul if you choose CEDAR RAPIDS STEEL TRANSPORT!!!! If you knew what was good for ya. Family, girlfriend, friends, kiss em all goodbye. Goodnight America............

To the moderators;
Fictitious post. A poser. -
I have been here 13 years. I am a old timer in the trucking industry at 23 years. I worked at England Trucking and another really small carrier.
First congratulations for still being here, I know your not happy. If I were your driver trainer or driver manager and I sensed your frustration I would tell you to rethink going out there looking for a "grass is greener on the other side" job.
There is no perfect company and I don't care what they tell you. There are alot of good things here if you stick it out. If you go somewhere else, know you will have to start over at square one and that is not always easy.
At 8 months, you should be eligible for the lease purchase program and that could be the money key for you.
I would think this through very carefully. Your 23 years old. The next company is going to ask you why you want to leave and if you are honest and tell them your reasons, you may get greeted with a chilly reaction.
Be safe out there.vandalicious Thanks this. -
If it is so bad that you would end your post the way you did, why don't you leave now?
US Xpress will hire you? so will Wil-Trans, you have options. Your so experienced on life on the road after 118 days and how bad you feel it is at CRST, why don't you just leave?
Have you talked to anyone? have you discussed your issues? have you done anything other than sit in the bunk and tell the world we are so bad.
Look, you do what you need to do but know this and what I am about to say is truth. Many former drivers have returned to CRST, have you asked yourself why? have you asked any of them about whay they left these other companies and came back? probably not.
I am a Texan also and so is my partner, and we do very well here. You won't be the first to leave at 8 months and not the last, but many do come back. -
Haha dude trust me I've talked to plenty of crst drivers, most of them said sorry to me for stepping in the ########. But I hear ya. I was venting, felt the need to talk some ####. Oh and as I write this I'm stuck at a drop yard in chicago waiting for road crew to come fix a broken trailer that was relayed and I'm suppose to pickup. The brakes don't work hahahahah. I love when motivated crst drivers don't report these things. Lol

Trust me, I get angry from time to time too, I don't want you or anyone to think everything is gold at the gold. I never said to anyone we don't have problems here, this is why I always tell people CRST is not the perfect company, because I would be lying if I said that.
Do we have driver managers that truly care? yes, do we have some that don't? you and I know we do. Do we have trucks that have seen better days? of course we do.
The reason we have trucks that are not show pieces is because drivers who were in them, never took care of them. Those are the drivers that are dirty biaches and look at this like it is just a job. This is a business!!!
I have been at OKC where the room was full of drivers who said CRST is this and that and then I remind them that it is a tough world out there and we should all be glad we never experienced what those ARROW Trucking drivers experienced. Then the talk changed.
If you feel the need to leave, go for it but remember, you may one day be back at CRST. You may not know it now, but keep it in mind. -
can anyone tell me if CRST got any better? I am looking to sign on with them to get my experience since i already have my CDL. I just need the experience to come back local. I have heard mixed opinions about this company so which is true good of bad? i understand all companies have there problems someone help me on info. Thanks.

FLCDL Thanks this.

i dont think i will be going over the road with this company. -
Im sorry but i have to say i have not had a big problem with crst but thats just me i know people who have had problems and people who have not i think its just a matter of how you are prepared and how you view life dont let them push you around but be nice to your dispatcher and let life do what it will
