Why should anybody provide you with anything for free?? In my opinion it should cost 3 times what it costs now so we can keep the " lowest common denominator " of hard luck people thinking they can just walk into this industry OUT..Quite fankly I want to see all you newbies fail,,simply for driving down the wages...

If you had to work 70 hours at the drive thru window and sleep in the supplies room away from home McDonald's would probably pay you more than what Crusty does. Hey at least you get meals and don't have to deal with DOT.

Actually let's look at In N Out's wages. My favourite fast food joint. As far as I know they pay a minimum of $10/hr (the highest in the fast food industry). Which means $10 x 40 hours = 400 plus 30 hours of overtime = 30 hours x $15 = $450. Which equals $850 per week. Now take in to account that this is EVERY WEEK. $850 x 52 = $44,200. That's more what the vast majority of newbies will make in their first year doing OTR. So yeah, looking at the amount of hours you put in, you are being compensated for your time worse than a kid flipping burgers.

Can I have fries with that?

    RizenPhoenix and Shaggy Thank this.

That was direct and honest simple math. but we both know a regularly hour employee does not work a 70. the managers do. worse off for salary

Notice how I started my comment with "If you had to". Obviously people rarely work over 40 hours in the fast food industry. But if you look at the amount of time you spend "at work" with Crusty it works out to about the same pay.

Lol. I make 1200 a week every week. Home on weekends and at least one day thru the week. So go flip your burgers and don't forget to ask them if they want fries with their meal.

Everyone talking about french fries and flipping burgers is making my stomach growl. Good point OI? If Mickey D's would give everybody 70 hours a week and OT after 40 Iwould say there would be a sudden shortage of drivers. Net result I think what the point is in trucking as a company driver (newbies excluded) that yeah you can make a large paycheck if your willing to work your tail off ie 60-70 hours week and or a ton of miles.I just cant understand why people like otr(24hrs aday)when it seems like its no problem getting the same hours locally/regionally going home nightly and getting same pay. Maybe they dont wanna be home or they dont wanna pay rent? ANYWAY GOOD POST
