I've heard that a warning and a ticket carry the same weight under CSA2010 from a number of creditable sources including a former LEO who is now an industry consultant and a current employee of the FMCSA. Those have to be associated with a DOT inspection; stuff from a local county mounty or statie who isn't authorized to do DOT inspections won't hit the CSA 2010 radar.

Yup... the DOT guys don't seem to have a clue, so we're going to have to be watching out for ourselves as this mess rolls out!

I was on hold the other day and I swear I heard Don Lacey say that due to CSA 2010 points, Prime has already lost 250 drivers. For real?

I dont see anything changing for the better of the drivers UNTIL the gov steps up and hit the shippers and recivers on the HOS ..But what do I know .... The CSA 2010 WILL put alot of drivers out of work and it will be devastsating to our economy....Maybe some of you out there still driving can enlighten me on all whats going on ..Thanks

I heard that too. Since CSA2010 hasn't even taken effect yet, I'm guessing this has been preemptive. We actually haven't lost 250 drivers due to CSA2010, we lost 250 drivers because Prime let them go before CSA2010 took them out.

    Very interesting though...

This is an exerpt from the Sept 2008 "CSA 2010 Dispatch":

"In February 2008, FMCSA launched a 30-month field
test of the CSA 2010 Op-Model with its state partners
Colorado, Georgia, Missouri, and New Jersey. Motor
carriers domiciled in the four test states were randomly
placed into a test or control group - approximately
34,000 carriers in each group. Carriers in the test group
are receiving the new CSA 2010 interventions using the
new measurement system, while those in the control
group are receiving compliance reviews using the

    current FMCSA operational model."

Missouri has had a dog in this hunt for over 2 years....since the inauguration of the op model test. Maybe what's happening, or what may be happening at Prime, is a result of what they've learned over the past 2 years. Like TruckerMike said .....preemptive!

Pre-emptive? Uncle Don disqualifies drivers on a regular basis due to too many tickets. Probably most of it is just part of the normal churn...

Astute observation! I totally agree. Trucking as far as the business side of things is just like other business. Cost of doing business and profit.:yes2557:

As far as pre emptive sacking of drivers, I would not be surprised to see more happening soon from many companies.
There is a rumor that no longer is denied by CSA regarding BMI standards. The cut off that keeps being thrown out is 30. This is the last rating of 'overweight'. At 31 the index reaches obese.
the problem is companies are afraid that drivers cut by CSA due to BMI standards will garner points against the company, much likea speeding ticket would be against a driver. They are beginning to fear CSA decimating some companies' corporate scores AND the loss of many drivers. High corporate scores mean high insurance costs.
The company I work for has already announced they 'expect' us to be 30 or less by start of third quarter (July 1). When I did my required blood pressure check a month ago (I'm required to stop in the yard and have my BP checked every 90 days to make sure I take my medicine), I was told "you're three pounds over. You have until July 1 to have that taken care."
    I am 5-11, weighed 221. 218 is the limit.
Not to worry. I've lost 12 lbs since then and will probably lose some more.
I've talked to others in my company that report the same 'conversation'. Our jobs are not being threatened per se, but we expect it to come.
I did ask the doctor how serious the company was on this and he replied, "they're as serious as a heart attack."
Companies will do what is necessary to protect their scores. Just as you need to for your personal score.
CSA is going to bring a lot of BIG changes over the next 12-18 months.
