How quaint. Of course not even remotely relevent to the discussion of law enforcement for commercial vehicles. Not one law has changed. Everything you can be cited for you could be before. We are just going to keep track of how often you do your job wrong. Plain and simple.

The way I see it there's no more or addition rules but a way to hold everyone accountable. You'd think this kind of program would have been initiated years ago.

Please don't blame veteran drivers for bad behavior because if you do then you're only showing your lack of experience and common sense.
I was one of those guys that "hammered down" and jumped around scales but I did it when I had only a year or two experience. After that I decided that I would protect my livelihood and run straight and narrow so I could land one of those high paying jobs. After that I protected my job and that means compliance with everyone.

I think you'll find MOST veteran drivers have found the company they want and have settled down and doing it right. You won't hear from these guys because there's nothing to report. That's the way it is. You start making $1500-$2000 a week and you'll be another driver doing whatever it takes to do your job and keep it.

All the CDL was started to do as stop the practice of moving your license state to state to avoid point build up for citations. Anything else you expected was fantasies dreamed up by the CB news network.

Anyone that thinks these laws are being put into place to protect everyone are naive. Just like the red light cameras going up everywhere are to protect people, right? And when people know they are there and revenue goes down, they change the yellow light timing so get more violations to protect everyone too, right? It's nothing ut a big shakedown. If everyone ran legal according to DOT the economy would grind to a halt.
It's amazing how many people on here disagree with that. Do you really thing the big companies like Werner who force you to run legal are carrying the majority of the freight? They carry idiot-proof loads that anyone can haul. Why is most of TMC's loads steel and lumber? So when the rookie crashes they can put most loads on another trailer and deliver it. The people dodging the scales and running over hours are the ones getting the job done. And when they get pulled over and inspected, they can fool DOT and keep goin. I've been DOT'd twice this year and got 100% clean inspection, no violations discovered. And I routinely work 18 hour days. It's a game being played by everyone. When they figure out a way to keep me legal, is the day I put my truck up for sale. In the mean time the people running legal and preaching about it make a small fraction of the money in trucking.

I can't believe so many drivers think this is about safety
Its about control. Lots of good drivers will be sidelined
while people think this nonsense will enhance safety.

Well I guess it boils down to what you consider good money. I never work over 10 hours a day and I'm doing just fine financially I have a nice home on a lake my wife and I both drive nice vehicles and we have a nice little nest egg in the bank.We have raised two kids sent em to collage And I have accomplished all this by running legal. Now with that said there was a time in my career that I ran Illegal ran overloaded dodged the scales and inspections and run 20 hours a day but as I got older I said why do this for a few extra bucks? It's just not worth it to me.

So the people running legal make a small fraction of the money in trucking? You have done a study? You have checked your NET money against folks who know how to make money without "fooling" the DOT?

That's what I did but I got real lucky and found a good job that pays by the hour. I got paid when I went through the gate until I went back through to go home. It's a whole different world when all the drivers do not need to break any rules to make a great living. The job is done the way it was designed to be done. Plus the company makes more than just paying by the load.

I believe these high dollar companies need to STOP recruiting managers from top colleges and get back to promoting from within. Get rid of the book smarts and get some practical people that make the decisions. It's really bad when the higher ups do not even know what a compartment on a tanker is.

The drivers that get a few maintenance violations here and there are not going to have anything to worry about. This is normal and will always happen. Especially if you are pulling company trailers with allot of drop and hook.
The FMCSA knows this, and the DOT know this.
This program is not about drivers, it is about company compliance.
If you do not believe this than you need to grow up and learn how to read.
The drivers and company's that need to worry under CSA2010 are the ones that do not maintain equipment and give out loads that cannot be done in a legal manner. And drivers that do not know how to properly fill out a log.

Right now company's are making up all kinds of crap to try and scare drivers. This is because they are scared. They know that they did not run the way a good safe company would run. So the safety guys are pointing fingers at drivers, saying it is all the drivers fault.
It will all pan out in the end and the ignorant people that see conspiracy's in everything will shut up again. Or maybe they will not, if they are running for company's that do not maintain equipment, or run loads they can legally deliver on time.

All the company's points in their own basics are compared against comparable company's. Then the worst of those will have compliance issues.
Maybe they will eventually have a driver rating. I am not too worried about that either. Since any rational way they could use to do that would include years of experience.
Now you have something else to post flames and ignorant rants about.
