I wouldnt hold my breath waiting for hourly pay, you might turn blue and die! Besides what employer or company owner is going to pay a lowly scumbag trucker more money for doing less work??? They simply are not concerned with our needs or problems! If you or I wont do the job for less money, we will be replaced more quickly and with less thought than it takes to replace a steer tire!
As long as the CDL mills keep churning out these steering wheel holders, the experienced driver doesnt stand a chance in this business anymore!

I hedged my bet by using these words:
Im may be many years in the coming, but that may be the ultimate outcome after EOBR's hit the streets.

Maybe for just the company drivers.....
I don't see how this would change the way O/O's are paid......

Or possibly this administration likes the L.A. Harbor model and eliminate O/O's period.......

Just to be clear: Immigration law is federal. An immigrant settling in California is treated no differently from one settling in Wisconsin. State and local governments do not have the authority to regulate immigration.

Also keep in mind that there are literally millions of US citizens of hispanic descent. Those people can seem like they just 'walked through the gate' even though they've lived their entire lives in some Spanish-speaking community in the United States.

That said, some level of fluency in English is required in order to qualify for a CDL. I don't know how CDL examiners actually verify this, but I've met several CDL holders who don't seem to qualify under this criterion.

I have run into Sikh....Russian......Chech drivers who for the life of me...I couldn't figure out how they got their CDLs in the first place.......

I was parked at the rest area just after Cabbage Grade...
This Indian or Paki driver pulled in with all of his brakes smoking.....

He asked me why they were smoking.....:biggrin_2556:

You do know that in CA there are 10 versions of each test in English....

    They are updated yearly......

There is only one version for each test in Spanish and those tests hasn't been updated as often....
I got this first hand from a DMV examiner..

What gets me is the state is in a financial crisis......

If I were the legislators...I would make every test and every government publication in English....that move alone would save the state hundreds of millions that could be used elsewhere, such as repairing or construction of new infrastructure.....Pay off the debt.....
CA's credit rating used to be at "AAAA".......no longer....CA's credit rating is at par with Somalia......:biggrin_2556:

I got my first (car) driver license in CA, and I had a choice of languages ranging from Swedish to Vietnamese.

I took my CDL tests in Texas, where they were offered in English only. California is free to offer non-commercial tests in whatever language they want, but offering CDL exams in a language other than English would seem to be a violation of federal law.

All of that should be in English only....How much paper is wasted and the CA taxpayer is footing the bill?

Now look at the list of disqualifying crimes:
Notice that there is nothing to prevent an illegal alien from getting a CDL.....

so with the csa2010, it would seem getting a dash cam might just be worth it, in the event of an accident that truly was not the truck drivers fault, and tho, they'll still put the blame on the trucker, it would make it a bit more difficult with a recording of the event...

I am just assuming here, but I'm betting the driver rating will be tied to insurance at some point.
At a certain level the O/O will no longer be able to purchase insurance.
