You are right, I had a Mexican co-driver and he was the best guy I teamed with. I was learning Spanish from him when we drove together. I try to pick up Spanish when I can, but I need to try a lot harder. Good advice!

Heh. The only mexican i reallly knew, i barely knew at all because she was exactly like what you were complaining about. Spoke almost no english at all. Worked at walmart in meat dept. Shoulda seen when customers asked her questions. She'd have the weirdest wrong answers. And she pronounced manager mana-your. I thought that was really weird. She was teaching all of us in the grocery dept on how to say things like shut up in spanish. Useful knowledge. Eventually we'd all yell at eachother in spanish just for fun. just bust into the backroom yelling "NO HABLO!!!!!" lol...I miss that job, just not the pay or the superman productivity that was expected.... Laughing at customers in the backroom where they cant hear us, etc...

That mexican girl wouldnt admit to being mexican either. She was mexican-american and from texas she said. Must've hung out with other mexicans and never needed to learn english i suppose. But she was like 60, claims to have lived ni the US her whole life, and cant speak enough english to make sense. Some dont even try. If you live in a country where english is the predominant language, you ought to attempt to learn it. Also they're both germanic languages and if you know much spanish, you'll realize that theyre very closely related. Oh, and that girl got all offended every time i said the word mexican. NOT MEXICAN MEXICAN AMERICAN!!!!!!!

....if im talking about mexicans...born and raised in mexico, of mexican descent, never even set foot in the US....they're just plain mexican. Tried to explain that to her and still got the very defensive argument NO THEYRE MEXICAN AMERICANS. Thats honestly why i think shes really FROM mexico, if she was from texas she wouldnt be so defensive....... she was really cool though even if i couldnt talk to her much.

We had a bunch of mexicans at the company I was at, and three of them eventually got pissed off at being called mexicans. They said, "No, they are mexicans, we are americans!" From that day, the other mexicans were still the mexicans, but those three we called by their names.

It's like being called Mexican is an insult! Should Americans, British, Italians, Africans, ect get mad too? :)

One of these days, one of these days......we'll just be Americans - fighting side by side, enduring the same hardships, struggling for the same goals, enjoying just being Americans! One of these days, one of these days.....

Never going going to happen in our politically correct world. How would the government be able to divide and conquer us then?

Good for you! Why do so many people insist on a hyphenated label? I laugh that Native Americans are called Indians because some explorers were lost. I have part Choctaw in me and I don't go around wearing my feelings on my sleeve like so many people do. We are Americans period.
If someone is that ashamed of their home country that they don't want to be identified as a citizen, that's their problem, not mine.

I started reading this thread from the beginning, post #1 of 49 or so pages of posts, but got lazy. My questions are: Are there any drivers out there (forum members) employed by a carrier in one of the test states?
If so, what's your take on CSA 2010? What has being in a test state meant to you as a driver....has anything changed?
