The amount of pre-pass red lights any carrier gets is directly related to their safestat score, computed monthly, I believe. If a carrier starts to get OOS, or any safety violations, the score goes up, and so do the inspections until that carrier begins having clean inspections, at which point the score goes down, and so do inspections.

A carrier that has a good safety rating does not get inspected much. What turns the tide is the few randoms they get that end up in violations. More frequent inspections are caused mostly by drivers getting speeding tickets, or having incidents, at which time a full blown inspection is carried out, which if violations are found, up goes the safestat score, and the frequency of inspections.

If any of the resident DOTs here would like to chime in, I would welcome it.

Ride it to the bottom baby!

It's gonna be AWESOME when every single big truck on the road is filled with non-english speaking foreigners who drive like a Turkish cabbie. I can't wait!

Lol... I guess I'm a racist then... and a, uh, classist?

I was just thinking the other day, remember when McDonald's cashiers were young fresh-faced teens earning a little spending money? Remember when they had teeth?

I ain't skeered of no CSA2010. I drive the speed limit, run legal and do pretrips. 175,000 less drivers will only help the supply/demand situation for our services.

Yes, I do. It very easy and many of you are probably not aware of. There is probably a few on here that have been victims. By victims I mean Identity Theft. Numerous counterfeit CDL's and other fraudulent documents are out there. Makes an illegal alien look like a US citizen after assuming their identity.

I am no way shape or form in favor of PrePass. I can't begin to tell you how many screwed up trucks and driver's I have stopped, how many I have locked up that have had Prepass. I am a firm believer that those with PrePass belive they are exempt, or entitled to not being stopped. I don't work at a scale, so I find the turds on the highway with their pants around their ankles, screwing up. I have locked up 3 for DUI in a truck with Prepass the last year or so. Each time I have to document to my commander any incident where we locate a PrePass holder that is really screwed up. I had a few with dope that I have locked up. Had a fair share of them with suspended driver's licenses. Many and I mean many with hours of service violations. After talking to these driver's many admitted to me that they didn't think they would be stopped because of prepass. The roadside inspection gets many driver's attention and catches them not taking care of business.

Not just L.A. It's any major city in the U.S. It's anywhere illegal aliens have large populations. It's anywhere that there is a need to obtain documents that these people will attempt to use to further their criminal activity.
