Very true. I could see it being difficult to work even after the points drop off. Especially with the staggering number of new wheelholders turned out weekly by all the CDL mills. Why take the chance of hiring an "outlaw" when you don't really have to.

Hmmmm.... according to the CSA 2010 handbook I bought (printed on Feb/2010) and what I heard during the CSA 2010 seminar a couple days ago at the Mid-America Trucking Show, I thought drivers would be able to check their own records free of charge...

Then how is the company that is tasked with storing all the data going to make any money? ??

This is what I read in the CSA handbook and what I heard at the seminar:

The “Driver Pre-Employment Screening Program” (PSP) will allow motor carriers and drivers to electronically access driver inspection and crash records. Carriers will need written permission from driver to access info. The company awarded the contract to run the program , NIC Technologies is said to charge an annual subscription fee of $100.00 and a $ 10.00 transaction fee for each record pulled. Drivers will be able to get their own records for free. The database will contain driver performance data on more than 4 million commercial drivers.

Maybe the info in the CSA handbook I bought is already outdated...
