I understand that, and I can see accidents increase with lower governors since drivers are pushing to make up time that they couldn't on the open road.
Though fuel savings is usually not the stated reason.

Good post, but you missed one thing. If you are pulled over for an inspection you automaticly get a speeding warning, whether you were speeding or not. I believe these are 5 points so these give you 15 points every time you are inspected.
-
Even if you get a clean inspection??? That doesn't sound right. Are you sure that is how it's going to work? Do you have a source for that info? Not calling you out, just sincerely curious.
-
He is correct, IF they officer puts SPEEDING on the inspection as the reason that they pulled you over.
I just learned thiat this week while in orientation at my new job. We were shown a video that explained all this stuff. When an officer pulls you over and does an inspection he has to write a reason why he stopped you on the top portion of the inspection. Most will write "speeding" if they had no legitimate reason for stopping you. If they do then you will get 15 points right off the bat with the formula they use for csa 2010. This and a few other things is the reason for all the delay in csa2010, because even the big companies scores are going to be affected when there drivers get "speeding" as the reason why they were pulled over to begin with so they have all been fighting it trying to get some of these things changed. It's all about the Benjamin's, err I mean safety!
scottied67 Thanks this. -
Truckerdave 1970 I can't find it right now and that is one of the problems with this thing. I know it is correct but I can't find the reference for it . I'm retired so I have time to look buy I can't remember where I saw it. They will prob change some things before they roll it out nationwide. I looked at some of the reports from some of the pilot states figuring that would give me an idea of what they are actually doing. It is not good. google the pilot states and see what they are having to do. Mn complained about load securement. They said that even if you have more chains on a coil for instance, than is required and one comes loose, even though it doesn't bring the WLL down to below what is required you still get 10 points for load securement.Of course that means 10X3=30 points actually. so it doesn't pay to put the extra chains on it. that is what will happen. This like all gov. programs starts out to be all about one thing and winds up being all about the $$$$
Also who is going to get all the inspectors on the same page? I wouldn't mind being inspected by diesel bear,he seems like a far man,but I would hate to run into Mike MD, he would like to hang anyone with a marker out. I've seen both kinds in my years out there. Most are professional but that small group of Richard Heads can ruin a careertruckerdave1970 and scottied67 Thank this. -
Bad thing is that you will not even know when they put that on the file.
-
Yes you will it will be on top of the inspection form you receive from the officer. You'll right then.
-
I hope you are right. I have not had any recent ones except for the gestapo at Lakeland, MN.
-
Will we know exactly how many points are assessed at the time of the stop or will we have to try and guess???
-
If it is like everything else I've seen with csa they won't tell you so they don't have to play by their own rules but for the nominal price of just $10.00 I think it is you can get a copy of your report.
