I've been doing this a long time and still need to ask things........ being said: Bull Sheet !! If it's on there it has to burn !!! Day or night !! And CSA is in effect.

It's time for all of us to put on our big boy pants and tell the carrier NO! My guy argued with me over a set of placards...he whined and he cried but I told him I was not taking that load anywhere in its condition. What did he do ? Got another driver.

I have made it my personal policy to protect my CDL and score at all costs....for there are hundreds of carriers but only one CDL and if mine gets too bad...he'll put me out with the trash.

It amazes me. I have stopped a few trucks in the recent past that have had numerous defects that were easily observed. When I stopped the driver and started the inspection they tell me something like, I was just going here to get it fixed. I told the boss for a week that this was wrong. I understand that some carriers will fire you for not doing it, but like you said, the carrier will use you until they have no more use for you and the replace you.

Dieselbear--one of my contractors was pulled over yesterday for not wearing his seatbelt. In the past this driver has been very honest and willing to admit when he makes a mistake. He was insistent that he had his seat belt on when he was pulled over. He stated this to the officer and was told that he didn't see it and he should have had it tight and against his neck where it could be seen. Regardless of whether you believe what my driver says, is there a way to protest this type of violation? Or are we carriers at the mercy of what the officer says?

If a seat belt is on your neck, it is not being worn properly. You're supposed to use your neck to hold yourself in the seat during a crash? That cop is a moron.

I have had to argue with officers in the past because they walked up to the window and claimed that I wasn't wearing my seat belt. I learned to never take it off to reach for my wallet until they were at the window and could see that I was wearing it. If you take it off before he walks up so you can get your paperwork ready so he doesn't have to stand out in traffic as long waiting for you to get stuff ready for him, he'll pay you back by claiming he saw you driving without the seatbelt on.

On a side note, my old caddy only has lap belts in it. It drives the cops nuts. They pull me over thinking easy money until I point the lap belt out to them. The disappointment on their faces sometimes borders on tears. It's hilarious.

I agree with everything you are saying. Unfortunately, I am not sure that will do truckers any good. It seems like this is their word against ours, and the cop always wins. With most other tickets or violations there is proof or a way to protest.

All you can do is take it to court and hope the officer repeats that statement about it being on his neck. The officer was probably worried that his reason for pulling the truck over wasn't valid so he made that up on the fly. If he's not bright to begin with, he should be easy to trip up in court.

Course that means you now have to waste your valuable time and money to go prove your innocence.

LOL welcome to the police state. More control by fear, that's all CSA is.

Victimless crimes: when catching real criminals is just too difficult.

This csa crap is just another layer of putting useless people that couldnt work a real job to work at harassing one of the last group of people that try to keep this country going. can you imagine telling your young grandson when he asks gramps what do you do for a living, and tell him"I sit in a little shanty like an outhouse and watch big wheels roll by, and once in a while I'll stop one of those guys and make him give me his money" A real honorable profession, Something to be proud of

I noticed a lot of talk about Obama when referencing this CSA2010 so I went looking trying to find the original law. Then I was directed to a YouTube video with a suit saying how proud he was of the law in 2005 that was going to coordinate all these laws into one place, and threw one agency.
That would mean this all happened before 2005.
With all the computer savvy people on this site does anyone have a site with the original law? I just know that no one would want to take away the credit for such shining achievement!

I told breakdown I was not going to roll with a mudflap missing on a trailer that I hooked to. I got it back on the Qualcom that they would not pay $400 for a service call. Another driver followed me to the Petro and I got it fixed. It was a gamble that I didn't want to take.

Never got that idiot's name. It isn't hard to get.

Time for my company to penalize drivers for leaving trailers like that.
