Couple of questions as to why your going to e-logs.
    1. Is it that your drivers dont know how to log and/or dont care?
    2. Is there not anyone in the safety dept. that spots bad logs in the first place and corrects the driver(s) actions.
I hate to see anyone bow down to the feds by going to e-logs because this is just want they want in the first place.
Dont you find it strange that a paper log vol. has way more points than anyone e-log vol.?

We were in the same boat. Now if we(the driver) get 2 log write ups other than general form and manner with in any 12 months we get the ol pink slip and shown the front door.

Kinda true. But there are thousands of trucking companys. Its hard for the feds to keep track of them all at all times. What to do?
Come up with a system (CSA) thats more in favor of big carriers with a point system that can put the small carriers with only a few trucks out of business with a few bad insp. that may or may not have been in there control. Big mega carrier can get wrote up for the same thing and its only a bump in the road on there score.

Only if the FMCSA gets a budget cut will it slow down the CSA.

    1. it's a combination of not knowing and not caring.
    2. we have 2 log auditers for 500 trucks, and in the past we were more likely to hide a violation than we were to correct the behaviors.

We also haven't been actually punishing people for their actions. I saw one driver that was on his 42nd warning for HOS violations. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that after warning number 36 drivers understand that their will be no consequences to their actions.

Well the "not knowing" drivers can learn how to log. The "not caring" drivers can either learn to care or be shown the door, IMO.
With 500 trucks and only 2 log auditors it would be tough to find every mistake but over time the "problem" drivers should move to the front of the check'em list.

You know the old saying, "spare the rod, spoil the child" well in your case with a driver getting his 42nd warring means nothing, as you said. Start firing drivers and you might be surprised the rest will shape up. Again IMO.

I'm with ya, IMO we're not committed to running compliant. I'm really surprised we're running eLogs in the first place. I'm even more surprised that I'm the guy in charge of them. I've made my position on eLogs clear to the safety director and the president. I do not like them as I feel they will make drivers dumber.

hey i just printed off a copy of my psp and have a few questions, like i was stopped in oct 09 in michigan for being in the left lane and given a warning for speeding and a ticket for impeding the flow of traffic, on my psp it it shows up lane usage violation then the other one says speeding, if i had gotten a ticket for speeding would it had said siolation like the lane usage? how many points do we get and where can i go to find out how many points i have against myself? i just wanna get a handle on this whole csa thing so im informed, thanks in advance fellas

The PSP and CSA are two different things, You wont get points on CSA unless an inspection was done or you have an accident. If you get a speeding ticket and no inspection is done then your csa will not change, no points will be given. If you get a ticket for land usage and a inspection is done then your csa will reflect whatever is on the inspection report. The psp is for pre employment and will reflect your ticket history
