I think that was his point. OOIDA was sitting with their thumbs where the sun don't shine just as they are now.

Will companies/drivers in Mexico and Canada be held to the same standard as the U. S. companies/drivers? I hope the answer to this question is...."Of course they will be!"

If not, I see a big business for Americans getting a license to drive in Mexico....

Yes and no. If they operate in the US the answer is yes, of course they will be.

im getting ready to go work for a carrier that will pay me 23% of gross on every load....is that reallllly any better?

we need to be paid a salary based on days you are either on the road or available for dispatch. if you're in the truck or available for a load (Incase you get off hometime and put yourself on available but there isnt a load available for a day...etc.....you still ought to get paid...) you get paid. this way you are paid the same no matter how fast you drive.

    300 per day would be great..... :p :p :p :p

Its pretty hard to give you an answer without knowing the freight rate.23% of a buck a mile is only 23 cpm.It also depends if it is of the gross without any deductions before you get your cut.

I've red from a few different sources that rates will have to go up , partly because the effects of regulations and rising costs of equipment are raising operational costs considerably . If you're paid percentage you get a raise when rates go up . Whether drivers paid by the mile will get more money is another question .
