Yes, we're already being told to expect pay raises to follow. Provided we maintain clean records.
Many companies are already expecting a bidding war, for quality, experienced drivers.
And it can't come fast enough for me. IMHO.
While my finances are in good order, it's been way too long since the industry has seen an honest pay raise.
CSA may save your future/job.

Granted, companies will be using the CSA "scores" to weed out poor drivers, but CSA isn't introducing any new laws or rules. It's just a more comprehensive way to measure the drivers and companies for what is already in place.
I see this as a good thing. Get all those idiots off my roads and create a higher demand for good drivers. If 175,000 drivers will loose their jobs after November, they shouldn't have had it in the first place. They're a hazard and are the number one reason our industry has a 120% turnover rate.
ps. I actually hope that 175,000# is under estimated. -
totally agree with the forcement of the LO and OO. Actually I expect the companies to push for LO then right b4 CSA rolls out they will require them to get their own authority. That will get them away from the CSA2010. Of course that will put them from running trucks to brokering freight but their liability reduction will be worth it.
CSA2010 will come out this year and really is just now getting started. The Pre employment database is in operation. You can get your CSA2010 score now, by december it will be in full swing. Warning letters to carriers are due to roll out in September. -
While I can't find the link at this time for my info. We're on the same page.
I admit being lazy this morning...and withdraw my comments
Things are eventually get much better for those of us who want it. -
In my opinion, Removing bad drivers off the road is a VERY GOOD thing.
They have,I believe, taught companies what they can and cannot ask a driver to do.
Now it's time for bad drivers to be taught what they cannot do without being penalized.
In the past 2 weeks , I've seen more truck driving aggressively than 4-wheelers. It has to change and it has to change soon or we are going to see a lot more accident from trucks and get everybody penalized for those few bad drivers.
Safety starts with your own choices and as with all the decisions we make in life, we better be prepared with the consequences.
My choice is to always put safety and laws first, So I am not concerned with it as long as it doesn't affect me in the choice I personally make.
It is sad to see this has to be regulated into stricter laws and that drivers are complaining about changes that will ensure their safety.
America's freedom will be lost because of the few that keep making bad decisions. -
It's all of our fault. While there may be a few on here who have never run illegal. I'm willing to bet an entire weeks pay, I could find many a violation on their past log books, if tracked with a GPS.
This ONE thing, will get rid of the drivers who have constantly kept us from getting decent pay, decent rest, and decent loads. And you know who you are.... I used to be one. I know who you are too.
I'm old, I'm tired. And I don't want to see this BS continue any more.
While companies share some of the blame. It's the drivers who are willing to cut everyone else's throat for a dollar....just one dollar. That have brought us to this.
I say good riddance to them all.frenchy, StringBean81, Roadmedic and 1 other person Thank this. -
We run legal all the time but I'll be curious to see how some maintenance issues are addressed once drivers start refusing to run equipment that could cost them points. From what I can see, the health issues could be interesting here with a lot of the older drivers that are in less than stellar shape..

How is this going to affect us local tri-axle drivers? Do you guys think these companys will be under the same scrutiny that the OTR companies will be under?
-
Logan, CSA2010 will affect ALL COMMERCIAL DRIVER, as I understand it.
That means you who drive tri-axle dumps, and I who drive single axle flat bed boom trucks to deliver building supplies. As well as any body above and below us. -
I'm hoping it will make drivers with a good safesat a valuable commodity....more money. :smt023
