Woo-Hoo. I got my 1st DOT inspection, 5 months on the job. Lucky me.

I'm receiving what i believe to be 12 csa points for issues beyond my control.

OOS Violation 1 - Leaky blue airline under spring by glad. Hose had a slice and no way you could hear it inside the cab when pressing brake. Passed leak test and truck trailer simply wasn't losing air unless parked unloading/washing over 2 hours.

Violation 2 - Running company joke. Most of our trailer abs lights are either lit or light up when depressing brake. Clearly trailer abs isn't working.

Violation 3 - Truck didn't have its yearly inspection done due at the time my company leased it from their company.

Violation 4 - 550 lbs over weight. There are no scales at the farm. I'm told we have over weight permits, AG exempt blah blah. The one permit i found in a trailer stated for a certain road and for certain bridges. There are no Carte Blanche State of Wisconsin over weight permits that i know of and if there were, is the companies responsibility to keep said permits in each trailer and the drivers responsibility to check and then not pull if out of compliance.

Essentially from what i understand i now have 12 csa points on my record which take 3 years to fall off. At what point(s) do i become a liability for a company/insurance carrier and they move on to the next candidate?

Last I knew overweight tickets don’t count as points and everything else would fall under maintenance and go to the company.

Well, unless you are the motor carrier you don't have any points on your record. The report for drivers is called the PSP, and there it simply lists violations. There is no point value assigned.
But yes, everything listed on a CVSA inspection report will be on your PSP for 36 months (accident 60 months)

Your company is lazy and taking advantage of your newness to the industry. Now that you have been burned, its time to up the pretrip game because all that stuff could have been caught and dealt with by you or your company before you rolled.

Every year the severity of those violations decrease by 1/3. 1st year they are multiplied by three. 2nd year they are only multiplied by 2. 3rd year they are only multiplied by 1. 366 days after those violations were issued they don't count toward your PSP. I'm not clear if they are still visible on your record, I would assume they are, but the govt doesn't count them against your record.

Scratching my head, “issues beyond your control”? Hate to break it to you bud, all of those issues are within your control, you simply failed to control them.

    Thanks TScott!

Yup i'm going to pretrip myself right out of a job. Most of our tankers abs are non functional.

I was rewarded with said Memorial Day showdown with a 14 hour day today and a 17 hour day tomorrow.

This "company" has crashed 5 trucks this year for over a cool million. We are on double secret insurance probation and have been forbidden from driving before 5am. I think the writing is on the wall..

Do you know how the abs light is supposed to work? Coming on with the brake light is normal as long as it goes out after one second. The could also possible come on for one second with ignition power. Both options are acceptable, as long as the light goes out after one second.

Yea, appreciate it. Light didn't go out.

I'm just trying to get my year in, almost 1/2 way there accident/incident free besides running their sketchy equipment they wont fix. Hopefully whoever sees my csa score next as a hiring entity can read between the lines and realize what i was doing. Just trying to get that $$$ and experience.

    silverspur and kylefitzy Thank this.
