CSA FAQs... use the keyword "weighting"

    How does time-weighting work?
Violations are impacted by time severity; that is, more recent violations are weighted more heavily. Violations that occurred within the last six months count three times, violations that occurred between six months and a year ago count twice, and violations between one and two years old count only once. After two years, violations do not count at all in the Safety Measurement System.

Funny. I linked to and quoted the CSA FAQ page. Question #60. Clearly indicates driver scores are weighted x3 for the first year, x2 for the second year, and x3 for the third year. You might be looking at how carriers are affected by the points, though, which has always only been 2 years.

Yup. If you select the "driver" filter, you get this...

    60. How does time severity work in the Driver Safety Measurement System (DSMS)?
The violations in DSMS are impacted by time severity; that is, more recent violations are weighted more heavily than older violations that occurred within the last year count three times, violations that occurred between one and two years ago count twice, and violations between two and three years old count only once.

The 4th year it may be 10x and the 5th year they might give us points. Maybe by the 10th year they might be happy someone just speaks English. The 20th year they might need to walk 20 miles to buy some britches.

Well... the FMCSA has already started declaring drivers an "imminent hazard," and ordered them to cease driving.

I'd get rid of all of them myself. Put all of the freight on the rail

After looking at the CSA's website some more I'm not sure WHAT the time weights are now. The ones I quoted were told to me by the safety director at Keen Transport who was pretty involved with CSA when it was first being discussed and I hadn't seen anything mentioning different. But it would appear for drivers now that the 3x first year, 2x 2nd year and 1x 3rd year is correct. Bit harsher then what I had known previously. Carriers still only have violations count for points out to 2 years though which seems a bit unfair to me, but eh....
