Tyrone, Georgia PD notified CSX that two sections of metal of the track were missing from the railroad crossing and were told not to send any trains through that area that was four hours prior to the incident occurring

    ignorance.

the railroads are making money, so rail maintenance should be a top priority.

maybe even weight limits as well...????

much like bridge inspections. my state inspects them 2 times a year..i say it should be done at least 4 times per year, given the age of not only my states bridges, but all across the country as well.

The railroad might be making money, but they most likely aren’t paying it out to the people that are making them the $$.. from things that I’ve seen over the last two years regarding the major railroad companies, a lot of whistleblowers are basically coming forward and saying that these railroad companies are making record profits while neglecting maintenance, not only on the tracks, but on equipment as well

Somebody at CSX has rocks in their head.
4 hours advance warning not to send any trains and lo and behold,a train comes and derails.

When the guy on the left spends $44B to buy a railroad, railroads are making money.

Except that Warren Buffet doesn’t own or hold any interests or shares in CSX,either outright or through investment companies.

In the last 20 years or so , railroads have dropped their operating ratios in the neighborhood of 20 points. There's no industry that's doing that solely on efficiency improvements. They have slashed maintenance and personnel to ridiculous levels. But the stockholders are happy... at least until the chickens come home to roost

If I were one of the employees on that train I'm not working another day in my life. They're going to still pay but I'm not working.
