They had us try on the PPE yesterday, I was thinking 'man if I'm sweating this bad wearing this inside in the AC, it's going to really suck out in the heat!'
Are you going to do local training for the first week?

That plant in Riceboro is notorious for being slowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. Consider yourself lucky it was only 2 hours.

I don't like putting on my PPE and unload myself, but I'll do it anytime if i know it'll save me a half hour at least. Oh and the drive around the building for the scale there sucks

How's it going Robot? Finished my road test yesterday, (only had to do a straight back, lol) left out with my trainer this morning headed to PA.

Wow, they started ya otr already? I just finished my first week yesterday hauling local loads around Savannah. Our longest trip took us out over my house in Goose Creek, SC. I've been kept very busy with waking up around 4 or 5am and staying out till the evening. I'll go back tomorrow and be with a regional driver for the week or until a system otr trainer is available.

Yeah, I was hoping for a few days at home maybe then a week local, but for whatever reason they've thrown me to the wolves. Spending the night north of ATL. Headed out at 4.

I can't wait to go otr. Doing local has too much of what I don't like about this job, being in you PPE! Unloading 2 to 3 times a day and dealing with city traffic blows. I just want to drive, drive, drive!

Best of luck on your journey and get plenty of rest!

Hey Robot, you might be interested in this...you have my old job! I was hired for OTR out of Savannah in January, trained with Jamie, and then I did some local runs solo for four weeks in preparation to go out OTR. I was fired in March for failing to report a spill. Long story...see my thread "Diary of a New Tanker Driver - Comcar CTL." Good luck!
