I keep reading threads on here about Cummins VS Paccar but they are always about the older motors 10-13.
Anyone have any experience with the newer ones? I'm a Canadian O/O with a 485 mx looking to get a new truck this year. Either Kenworth or Pete pulling reefer. I'm wondering which would be the most reliable and be the better spec. The 500 or 510mx or the 500-550 cummins. Or would the 550 be too much and I would have to worry about carbon packing.
Sadly glider kits are illegal in Canada so I can't go that route. Otherwise it would be a 12.7 550hp Detroit. Or a 650 6nz.
Thanks in Advance all.

Since when are gliders illegal in Canada? I believe there are a few Canadians on this forum with gliders.

Glider kits are not illegal in Canada. Inland Prince George will sell you one.
You have to have a donor truck with the motor and tranny what ever year the donor truck is that is the year your glider will be registered as.HighwaySuperTramp Thanks this. -
I'd do cummins over the Mx , just because of more repair shops to pick from.....
P.S. Glider is the way to go.HighwaySuperTramp Thanks this. -
I never drove mx but I have 15 cummins no problem so far. If you don't idle and do maintenance you should ok the 500k after it will start getting costly replacing old emissions parts

I have a cummins isx and It runs well. Whats the big deal with one engine over the other anyways. From what I understand its really all preference. I've driving all engines I think the cummins and detriot are fair.

So the glider kit is all mechanical? No computers and such.

Last I knew a 60 series and 6nz both have computers. No egr, dpf, def though. Id take an isx over the paccar anyday. I have experience with dd15 and isx 12 & 15. Id pick the isx over the dd. (and the isx just sounds cooler)
