You’ll need a liner puller as well as a liner press, and a ring compressor. Those are the more expensive tools needed.

Don’t pull the cam followers off unless you have the tool to set the injector timing again….

Putting the new pistons in the oven at 400 degrees for about 20-30 minutes will make installing the wrist pins much easier.

I use a thin layer of petroleum jelly to lube the block and liner seals before installing the new liners. DON’T LEAVE MOUNDS OF THE JELLY BETWEEN THE ORINGS!!! You will regret it.

Make sure you clean the top of the block as well as where the liner shims set, and remember to install the shims before setting the new liner in.

Use a thin rubber hose on the rod bolts so you don’t bump the crank and scar it.

Remember to remove the fuel jumper lines between the heads before removing the heads. And reinstall them before setting the rocker boxes back on, lot easier. Installing the water manifold before installing the rocker boxes will make your job easier too.

Loosen all the main caps slightly and installing the thrust bearing will be easier as well as all the upper main bearings.

I would advise installing a new oil cooler too.

I run a Big Cam cpl 625 myself all over the east coast from Florida to NY, Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, Michigan, Illinois, Ohio, Kentucky.

This brought back memories, the oven trick, but when they did my 855, they used HOT water. When he told me to go get a big pan with hot water, I was like “HUH” !!! But it work inserting the pins.

Reminds me of when I had a flywheel ring gear in my moms oven for a WD45. Flywheel on a sheet on the floor and I just tapped it on. Took it out the back door . Room full of smoke, all the doors and windows open in the middle of winter. She showed up unexpectedly and never said a word.

Measure the liner protrusion before you take in a part. If it is wrong then do not expect it to be correct without machine work for new liners.
