    Why not? I have a 550 cat but i think i could still knock out 3000 a week with a 350 cummins...

when I buy a truck it will be for value and how well the truck has been maintained not for BIG hp...

Nothing wrong with the horsepower. You just wont be setting any records climbing a big hill. Tandem transport out of Michigan city Indiana used to run m11 410hp pulling flats. Schilli loved those 370hp cats, Pulled tankers regional with them.

A couple years ago when my boy did the wheat harvest they ran the c12 cats hauling big loads out of the fields in california and colorado and montana .And the tractors and combines and grain carts out on the open road I was impressed with the c12 at maybe 375 horse and a ten speed,it did a fine job some loads were up in the 100000 range

Those big hammers are heavy as well...

If your hauling illegal loads and you want to have a heavy jag on and go up hills fast so good ol mr. bear doesn't know then I guess having a big hammer is great, but in the end it doesn't matter to me as much as having a clean truck inside and out...

Ahh, I see I mis-read the title of the original post. I thought it had 4.10 rear gear. I would not want to see my truck with a 3.42.

My truck pulls ok for what it is....once you get used to 1800 rpm at 60 mph and the oil leaks (front accessory drive cover, oil pan, AC compressor bracket, rear main seal). I am 2000 lbs lighter than the T2000 + C15 we have.

Today I grossed 88,240 in the Finger Lakes of NY....west of Penn Yan. There are some steep little buggers on the back roads in that neck of the woods. Last winter I pulled a JD230LC excavator up I-81 to Toronto...I think I grossed 90,000 on that trip. She did fine. I am usually right on 80,000. I do get left behind on the hills though. I get a good view of the dollar bills flying through the air ahead of me.

DO a bit more shopping around. You can find a lot of newer trucks, with better flatbed specs for around the same money.

Do a search on the truck paper site. It will give you some good info to work with.

    i'll take HP any day.

when i climb hills. i want get to the top today. not tomorrow. when i make delivery. i want to be there tomorrow. not next week.

when i came back out on the road i drove a 95t600 with a d60. we have a certain haul that goes from the idaho border to tucson arizona. 900 miles. and takes 18 hours. to albuquerque it took 15 hours

the truck i drive now can do the same journey to tucson in 14 hours. 11 1/2 hours to albuquerque. and gets a little better mpg.

you might make the same revenue. but think of the extra sleep one can get.

Torque gets you up to speed, horsepower keeps you there, now if I could stick to a certain lane I'd build my truck to run it, now since I run everywhere I've got a fairly versatile truck
