Tell him find a way to get them up here! The more I read about the CM2250 SCR's the more I think he's probably sitting on a gold mine.

Ok Rawze a couple more questions and ill leave you alone till I post results since I will be doing this this weekend. How hard is it to replace or clean egr.Is there any coolant lines going to it?I looked and saw the I would guess the plastic electronic piece on top...any cleaning to that? Also when putting back together all intake and all the bolts should they be torqed and if so at what.one more question have you ever broken any bolts getting everything apart and should I use some liquid wrench night before to help not break any cause I'm sure that would suck if one broke.thanks

Hey Rawze,
Picked up my Prostar today that I PM'd you about last week. It is an ISX CM871 435hp w/13spd, all went well driving home, until about 300 miles into the trip I noticed my Engine Oil Temp was around 205 or so, and I thought it had been around 170 for most of the 300 miles, I only noticed it because the warning Triangle had come on.
BTW I was bobtail running 1350rpm @60-62... So I pulled into a truck stop and checked fluid levels etc... all was normal. Also, while pulling into the truck stop the warning light went out. So I left the truck sit bout 30 mins and started off again. The engine oil temp ran back up to 205 and and the warning light came back on again, so I pulled off at the next truck stop and the warning light went back out before I even parked up, after doing some research I found that I did not have to worry about shutdown until it reaches 250, so I started off again to go to a repair shop.
Well the light went off and never came back on. So I finished my trip home to where I hope I can fix the problem myself, if there really is one.
How to I get the engine code that the warning light came on for without a dealer of course? Is there a way to view it on the dash display?
What is the normal operating engine oil temp? I was not under any load at all, am I wrong in suspecting the oil cooler thermostat?
I just read a post about different fuel level in each tank setting off a code/warning, I did notice that while this was gong on my fuel level displayed had actually risen. From under 1/4 back up to 3/8.
Anyway thanks again for pointing me in the right direction for EGR knowledge last week and that great video series.
Hope I can get some help on this weird one.Rawze Thanks this. -
Don't wanna come off rude, but lots of guys post issues and that dealerships and repair shops reep them of there hard earn dollars but to get to the bottom of a issue like this you need the equipment to diagnose and understand what its telling you. Cheap laptop, insite, and nexiq link be less than 1000$ and in the long run potentially save you thousands. Lots of you owner ops think these 871's are pains in the arse, wait till the 2250 engines get out there and all the fun common rail fuel problems add to the emission problems that everyones fighting.Last edited: Oct 18, 2013
