Of course a VERY good inspection looking for external leaks is the first step. Very good inspection. Also only add oil if it drops below the fill and only halfway between the fill and full marks. Also, before adding oil, next time its below the fill mark, get an oil sample to send for testing. See if something suddenly wearing quickly. Get the blow-by checked to see if perhaps its getting around the rings. Take a look at the exhaust side of the turbo and see if there is any oil in there indicating an turbo oil seal going. Double check all your intake plumbing too to make sure all the clamps are tight. If any clamps are loose, check the intake pipes and see if there is a light coating of dust in the intake or a build up of dust in the center nut of the turbo (intake). A dusted engine will consume a lot of oil. It doesn't happen overnight but over 100k's of miles. But when the ring finally breaks, oil consumption goes up. Good luck!
