It just seems like a sad choice. I really don't have the desire to buy either engine. I guess if these were the only two choices, I would hold my nose and buy the ISX. But from the experience I have had with the ISX, it is remote that I will ever buy Cummins again. I had a real fondness for the N-14 platform, but after two ISX's, I am just about sworn off of Cummins.

And the Paccar engine is just so new to the game, it really wouldn't be an option for my dollar. I'll let fleets buy the Paccar engines and get the bugs worked out in them. Once they show a high level of reliability, then it might be a consideration.

Stay the hell away from paccar unless you like pulling hills at 30 mph. We have some in brand new aero pete's but they only make the small motor like 13 litre, ours is 430 hp and 1550 torque, total turd but they will get 6.5 to 7 mpg at 73 mph from North by God Carolina to California and back. The biggest they make is 485 hp and 1650 torque, with a 13 speed it is at least livable.

I got away from them as soon as i could and got back in a cat powered ride, but I would take the cummins in a second, so many more choices with engine size and power and pdi makes some cool stuff to make that red motor screem and they can delete all your smog crap and you will have a new motor that runs like an old one.

I always wondered if anyone would do the emissions delete for rigs. Main thing id want done would be dpf, def, and egr delete. And then re-tune the engine so it doesn't try to regen

The isx would be a decent motor without the carb crap, but id do a glider kit and look at an older cat or detroit.

30? You must have a good one! I know a guy here that has one and with his old truck (475 Cat) he would do 30mph on a local hill here. With his new Paccar motor he's down to 14mph.......and it's 485hp. :biggrin_25523:

I guess on paper the paccar looks good, but in the real world, no dice.

It's quiet and he said it's good on fuel but severely lacking on power.
