Ouch. The reason I stick with Tri-Pac units, they plug into the cooling system and keep the block warm in the winter. Watch the idling on that motor, any way you can plug her in? A block heater on the unit?

Nope it hasn't like starting when it's very cold out in the morning either
-
Darn. Well, the cold will not kill the motor, just watch the fuel in regards to gelling and of course the batteries. Not much you can do... If really cold, make sure your urea does not freeze, and yes, I have seen it freeze, but those were arctic temps up in ND. The emissions are the issue, I would rid myself of that problem. What part of the country are you in? Assuming Chicago?
-
Yes Chicago
-
Well, you can tarp and use a propane heater, one of those tube units. Or go old school, tarp and a pan of coal... We used the propane and tarp method in ND.
-
If you have to idle, keep it to a minimum.
-
I think my ISX is turning into a stalk of bananas.
It seems to regen without going into high idle. Mostly I do rolling regen.
In any event. If you freeze to death in your truck, the idle time isn't going to matter.Short Fuse EOD and HalpinUout Thank this. -
Yep, freezing to death sucks! LOL!Dave_in_AZ Thanks this.
