Can a Cummins Lta10G1 be put in a truck application? Looking to go to the 380hp that this engine is set at. Original engine is a Lta-10 @300hp. Would have to swap the fuel pump for correct governor. Original needs new cam.

What does the G1 stand for? Do they both have internal or external harmonic balancers?
Picture of the 10G1 fuel pump please. -
G1refers to a generator engine, I do not have a picture of the fuel pump but it is the standard PT fuel system pump.
-
They are not all standard in what you a re taking about. Ballancer location is a major issue. Can we get a picture of the front crank pulley and and pump on both engines?
-
The engine in truck now is a 1989 Lta-10 internally balanced ser#34595746 and fuel pump part#3060718. The engine I'm looking at is a 1993 Lta10G1 engine serial# 34708363. I don't have any pics of the engine as it's a far bit of a drive to it. Just wanted to see if it's possible for this engine to be put in a semi tractor before I make the drive.

If the other engine is not also internally balanced do not waste any gas. Fix what you have.
MACK E-6 Thanks this. -
So what you are saying is that if I look for another engine I should try to find an internally balanced engine?
BoxCarKidd Thanks this. -
Same as you have. Yes the crankshaft noses are different lengths. The front cover to run accessories is likely different. Thank you have to pull the cam to replace the cover. Other engine is probably step time. It is possible as I have done it but never again.Big Road Skateboard Thanks this.

Why does it matter if he’s swapping it?
Would the generator engine damage the driveline or something if it isn’t? -
It will all bolt in just fine. Drive line and all is just great. The crankshaft is about 1 1/2 inches different in length at the front. Cannot put fan belts on it. Front cover may have a four bolt flange for a hydraulic pump and a truck P/S pump will not bolt up to that.
Truck is probably low flow and other is high flow. Other than that it is a pretty easy deal.MACK E-6 Thanks this.
