Some shaft play is normal. Look for any signs of the fins hitting the housing. If not, it is probably ok. You should have someone check it before you fork over any money for a new turbo you might not need. You are allowed a few thousands end play, but side play clearance between the blades and housings can range from 0.006 to 0.025". The turbine center itself while spinning.

Shaft play side to side is normal, but very little in and out is allowed. It cannot hit the housing. I wouldn't be surprised if that turbo could make it to 1.2 milliom miles without a problem. If in doubt take it to a shop that specializes in turbos.

The shaft is meant to "float" in the bushings. It isn't meant to be a tight fit. I'm sure your's is just fine. HNY!

M11 turbos seem to last a lot of miles only reason I replaced alot of them was for damaged fins on the inlet seems to be from over speeding the turbine or back pressure on the exhaust outlet side since those trucks had blowers on the exhaust aide to pressurize material trailers
