Checked everything over wiring is good. New harness from Cummins. Tried to start it for the first time. No start, tons of white smoke.

Last time I had this issue I replaced the Cam sensor.

Waiting on places to be open on Monday but I wanted to see what others think as well.

No power to fuel Solenoid either. I'm guessing with this ecm it needs the Cam sensor to send its position to start firing at the right time as well as sending fuel through the injectors?

    baha Thanks this.

    What truck?
Do you get any codes from the ECM?
Do you have a fuse on a ground wire from your ECM to the block?

2000 Freightliner Classic. The only wires I've seen with fuses are on the positive wires going to the batteries.

No codes. I do get a stop Engine code with the fuel Solenoid jumped from the battery to solenoid.

I thought power should be constant to the fuel solenoid?

If you're getting smoke while cranking it's getting some fuel, right?

That's what I thought as well. Reading back to how these were engines originally designed its got me really wondering and hitting my head against the wall.

Originally the power was only going to the solenoid after the Cam sensor hit the right position, then sent that to the ecm.

When you put a jumper to the fuel solenoid did you have the original feed wire hooked up? Maybe the power was feeding back to a wire that has shorted out. Making the ECM give the red warning of death.

Check the harness again. Could be a couple wires are crushed and shorting.

    Good luck

Yes, it was hooked up. Took it off after just to test to make sure it was reading on the ecm.

Do you know if the location of the fused lines matter on the positive battery terminals?

I have them how u thought they were originally but I'm going to stick them together on the same post and see what happens.

Positive connection on any battery is a positive connection. They all should be the same. Unless you have a bad battery cable.

Did you search your problem using the magnifying glass in the top right of web page?
