Might as well figure $1200 to $1500 for a inframe kit, then add the price of retiming the cam, new injectors, turbo, and a pump tune if you want to basically do a stock 400hp.
Now you can put 400 injectors in the 350 and it will run , but sure will be rough starting in cool weather.

Why would it start rough with the 400 injectors if all the cpl s are updated turning it to a 400?
OLDSKOOLERnWV Thanks this. -
Speaking of putting 400 injectors in it as it is... A 350. Better off to tweak it as it as a 350 or tear it down and update with lower compression pistons to make a 400 as Smokincat mentioned earlier. As a 350 it will do fine if you take care of it.

So will a 350 turned up cook along good or be kinda a poch in now days standard. I'm running a n14 500hp in a 379 gross 90k
-
I would assume they lower the compression so that more boost can be added. The only way to get more boost is to add more fuel.

Ever notice when a blower is added to say a big block chevy, lower compression pistons are needed? @SmokinCAT may know better than I off the top of his head.... But if my memory is correct, a 400 would normally run like a 14.0 compression piston, and a 315 or 350 would run a 15.0 or maybe a 14.5 on certain engines. The turbo itself can help or hurt, depending on the other ingredients.
-
Yes lower compression so you can stuff more air in.

It wouldn't if everything was updated to a 400. I was making reference to tossing in a set of 400 injectors and the rest still set at a 350hp. Depending on what part of the country your in, flat or hilly, you may like the 350 with a little tweaking, then again you may hate it after being use to a 500+ hp. One of our last tractors at work had a 315 in it, matter of fact I delivered generators in NJ with it after Hurricane Sandy. It was tweaked a little before we got it so I'm not sure what all was done, but it wasn't bad actually, I never ran over 70 anyways pulling our lowboy.Last edited: Aug 28, 2016
