Cummins prostar or not??

    Im in the market for a used truck, ive owned cascadias with dd15 before, i really like them. Been seeing alot of 2015 and 2016 prostars witn Cummins in the 4 to 500k miles. I would never buy any navistar engine, just wondering what was yalls thoughts on a prostar Cummins powerd unit would be. Thanks in advance.

    Cummins in a prostar shouldn't be any different than one in any other truck. The mileage would concern me though. Need to do your due diligence (dyno, blow by test, OA on engine and boxes, ECM dump). Ecm dump, among other things, will show idle hours and percentage. High numbers here is cause to keep looking.

    Did you ever drive one of those? Personally I drove a few and have had bad experience. Everything was breaking apart around me. Cheaply made. AC always had problems etc. I wouldn't buy one. I like how they look, that's about it.

    Yes ive have about 8k miles in one. Not enoght miles imo to really judge them. Ive heard that bout them beging cheaply made. Thanks

    I put 100k miles on a few of them together and I said never again. The auto is nice, the 10 speed was too. Now whenever I look at the local FedEx Ground yard the only ones rotting away are usually prostars. The local dealer is "matching" the downpayment on them. I think they cant get rid of them quick enough.
