    Generally it's 1.5 million miles before an overhaul but I know a few well taken care of trucks that lasted in excess of 2 million but most cases it's 1.5. The v8 is a very simple engine and none of the egr crap on them either, that's why they work so good and are endlessly reliable, like old cats

    There is a fair thump out of them with straight pipes, something like a v8 muscle car with a deeper tone and extremely loud, personally I never flick the switch, I like it quiet, you still get a low v8 rumble on the hills but otherwise cruising on the motorway with the double glazed window option you can't hear much inside except the air coming through the vents, that's the way I like it now (I'm Probably getting old)

    They pull very well, I drive a 620hp and at 114,000lbs I can hold in to a 440hp mercedes On a 5% hill in Germany that's running empty ( about 32,000lbs ) and got the video to prove it

    Heck, if you think that is loud you don't want to ride in my truck. You could hear the flasher working for the turn signals in the Scania truck video. You be lucky to hear the guy talking in the passenger seat to you in my truck during acceleration and the jake would rattle the fillings out of your head when braking.

    Wow, are u serious? I'd say your ears would be ringing after a day in that! Don't know if my old (ish) head could hold up to that.
    I bet that Scania is loud outside, those cabs are well insulated with double glazed windows and normally the engine is barely audible.
    Do u have a video of your truck? Sound like that is crazy, I bet the road is well clear ahead

    Here's a video of my old f250. I loved that truck and regret selling it. I had a 7.3 liter naturally aspirated v8 diesel with 2.5 inch straight pipes, no cats or anything.

    Actually it wouldn't lol. If i recall correctly Stock HP specs were 250hp and 400ft-lbs torque. It would jump if you tapped the fuel and let off real quick. I miss it SOOOOO much. It had dual 20 gallon tanks and I averaged 22mpg with big mud tires on it.

    Couldn't agree with you more. Driven a straight piped v8 for 2 weeks. Hated it after 5min, after a week I found a new friend,

    and after 2 weeks I said I will never sit in that truck again without a silencer mounted.
    But maybe I'm special, couldn't stand driving my turbo e30 with just the downpipe either :)

    I'm totally with you there, I like quiet when I have to listen to it all day, I like noise when I'm on the bike but not all day everyday but some guys like the noise and it's a personal thing I guess but I get stressed in a loud truck, I get headaches and I get grumpy, a nice engine should still sounds nice at low decibels in my opinion
