Cummins X15 "coughing" intermittently.

I am no mechanic but "something like a cough" seems pretty vague. Did it do it once and stop or keep making the noise for a bit? Has it done it since? Can he get a recording of the noise?

I have a cm2250 that has 100,000 on a complete in frame. Every so often when it first starts up it stutters a bit could be considered like a cough. So far no real issues. Made me wonder first time it did it. If it turns out to be something major I'm probably just going to set it on fire.

 

TJB15, try to run a fuel injector cleaner, Lukas or, I run Marvel oil all the time, a bit better fuel mileage and smooth start and idle is the result.

Could it be water in the fuel?
