Good Morning all
I have a 2019 Kenworth T800 with a Cummins X15. The engine has a knock when under load at about 1400 to 1500 rpms. To me it’s sounds like a fuel knock from a bad injector. Put it in the kenworth dealership shop they suggested an overhead and changed out DPF sensors, and the knock is still there. My question is how do I identify which cylinder has the knock because I’m sure it’s a fuel related knock only the mechanics at this shop can’t figure it out.

Cylinder cutout will isolate it to cylinder, but doesn't necessarily mean it's a fuel knock.
Isolate the cylinder, then look for valve train/jake issues first. If you find nothing and pull the injector, check what you can of the cylinder walls and piston before throwing an injector in -
Ok thanks, an overhead has been run, I’ll talk with the mechanic shortly to see what checks he’s performed. would be prudent to perform a compression check?

Some others here may have more specific X15 info

Cut out is the only way to pinpoint a hole to narrow down. From there swap injectors hole to hole. There is no published compression test for the engine.
Most knocks or noises can be somewhat misinterpreted. The engine is somewhat noisy to begin with. Some of the gear train noises sound like a bag rocks just setting at a stop light.
What’s really disappointing is to tear it down and find nothing. Sometimes it’s just better to run it until it gets worse or to failure. That being said, most bottom end issues are on 5 or 6. Broken rings pistons etc.Diesel Dave, Big Road Skateboard and D.Tibbitt Thank this. -

Thanks all gives me some direction, cylinder cutout not showing anything engine actually idles smooth and sounds quite normal even when rpm’s increased but hook a trailer up and load the engine at 1400 rpm’s it starts knocking I’d hate to run till failure it’s a strong and very efficient engine. I’ll pass on the advice maybe they’ll find it soon.
Thanks again folks -
Throw a gallon of Lucas fuel and see what it does. Or some 2 stroke oil.
