OK. my name is Inverse. Hello.
moving on, i'm curious. i leave for CRE in 2 days. i've done hours of countless research, mostly on this forum. from what i'm seeing, a lot of people have very negative perspectives on this company. i spoke with a friend of mine who worked for CRE for a year, and he claimed the pay was great, the work was there, and he had literally no problems while he was with the company. he left because he wanted to be home more, which was the only downfall. trainer was great, pay was even better.
what's the problem with CRE?
i only ask because i want to work for them. i want to make money more. what exactly am i missing?
thanks for the input guys.

Ok I have never worked for them, but my husband left for their school in Salt Lake City Feb. 23. They paid his greyhound ticket there but the bus got stuck in Denver due to bad weather so hubby and all the rest of the students heading to CRE were told to get a hotel room and they would be reimbursed when they got to school. WRONG!! When they got to school they were told we'll reimburse you once you start driving. Hubby got his CDL, had to wait several days while they found a trainer for him and they said "You'll get paid $25/day while you wait for a trainer" WRONG!! The website or recruiter said he'd be paid the Tuesday after he starts driving...that was 2 days ago and he never got paid. The website also said the first week of driving he can request hometime and they try to get drivers home within 2 weeks...not true. You have to go through Phase 1 and 2 before you are able to leave. Phase 2 can last up to 90 days! The hotel where you stay is ok but they put 8 people to a room, so very crowded. He had his sunglasses get stolen and his dirty socks..seriously. Who is desperate enough to steal dirty socks, especially my husband's dirty socks? LOL They provide a tiny locker that won't hold all your stuff. They have a convenience store and a grill but everything is way too expensive. The shuttle only takes you to Wal-Mart. One student lived 10 minutes from the school and CRE wouldn't allow him to go home. Once you get in class it is very disorganized. He said they'd pull people out of class for drug test, physical, etc so they'd miss whatever was being talked about in class. 3 days after arriving he took his Permit test and I think not even a week later he took his last test, passed, and got his CDL. CRE has been said to wait on sending in all the paperwork so the Utah DMV waits until the last minute to send the license home. Several here have said they want drivers in Phase 2 before they are able to get their license switched. Unlike some of the better companies who pay to put the student in a hotel if they are stuck out while the trainer goes home for the reset or whatever, you have to wait it out at a truck stop. Your Phase 2 trainer could very well be somebody who just got their CDL a few months ago. To me that could be like the blind leading the blind. Oh and he was told it would just be $140. $100 for class fees and $40 for the CDL test. Once he got there he found out it was actually $3000 and if he leaves before driving for them 9 months he has to pay it back out of pocket. If he stays then they take it anyway. They hold it out of your check. Drivers get home about 1-2 days a month on average.
There are better schools! Don't believe what the recruiter or their website says! He is now just finishing out his training, getting his license in so he can switch and getting out as fast as he can! There are much better companies out there to drive for...my advice is just stay away from CRE. They mislead people and lie about everything. I doubt we ever see the hotel reimbursement or the $25/day while he waited to get paired with a trainer. -
Here's why you shouldn't do CRE. Number 1, they pretty much force you to lease. They'll tell you there are no company trucks available, you'll make more money, etc. Number 2, the company is so big, it'll take no time to get lost in the shuffle. So many drivers end up with negative paychecks, especially new drivers. Number three, they do have miles, but spread out over so many thousands of trucks, you're not getting them. It is what it is.

My comments are based on the encounters with past and present CR drivers over the last 17 years and after reading countless reports from people who started out with CR, only to end up leaving within a few short months because what they were told ended up being true. Now, if you want to be hard headed and disregard my comments and also the comments of many more ex drivers that I'm sure you have read after your extensive research then by all means, go for it! I would think that you or anyone else would have the good sense to understand that if you constantly hear or read bad things about any given company then you could be 99% certain that what ever you have heard or read could very well be true. Oh and the "just because you've been a trucker for an "x" amount of years" comment. That's called experience and regardless of the situation, you would be well advised to listen to it. It makes no difference to me what you do. Just trying to help you not make the same mistake that countless others have. But it's your life and your choice, you do what you want.

Their lease program is GREAT for newbies! You want to roll in the money? Lease train drive! IGNORE all the lawsuits against CRE! Lease a new 2013 cascadia as soon as possible! IGNORE these haters! Lease as soon as you can, and train asap! Couple years you could be a millionaire!

Hey do you have a stand up show -
So you've spent countless hours researching CRE and in your research you've found that most of the comments are negative yet.....you make this post. Sounds to me like you're trying to convince yourself, through this forum, that you will be the exception to the black hole that is CRE. Well, if that's what you want then go for it. CRE is a great company. All the negative posts you have read are wrong. You will get miles, you will make tons of money and you will get every weekend off! Go for it bro! Please keep us updated about your experience!!
