Agents only control what goes on the freight bill. Corporate does the rest. If he put $400 extra on the freight bill to be charged to the customer, you would get your slice.

True, cash on the side is always out there. No reason for the broker to share though, in this case.

This fall the LS load board will show if a load is from a broker or direct freight.:biggrin_25519:

Are you asking if it's "legal" for them to take a cut of the bribe you got for driving illegally? Really? :biggrin_25513:

Broker has the right to make a little more, not 35% because he is financing the invoice and the more he finances the higher his cost. But the agent has no skin in the game, maybe $10 for a couple of phone calls. You have all the expense of hauling the heavy load and risk of getting caught. No way someone else should get 35% of the money

Not sure about the shell game within the LS universe, but you accepted $250 extra. Worrying about the extra $150 makes you sound like an occupy protester, unless there's something in your contract that says you get that additional rate in full.

I'd be more bothered by the dishonest shipper putting on more cargo than agreed without asking, along with the consignee getting butt hurt over actually having to pay extra for... umm.. extra. If I were you, I'd probably continue doing business with that broker with caution, and never return to that shipper and consignee without a substantial "douchebag" charge.
