Me and my wife are planning on taking a shot with us xpress. Here are some questions we have.

    1. Do we have to pay for a hotel during orientation, or is it paid for by usx?

    2. How likely is it that we will get put on a dollar general account or something like that where there is a lot of touch freight?

    3. What will the physical be like? I have heard that it is different depending on the type of account they assign you. If different how are the physicals on both types?

    4. Verifyable employment. I have been doing computer repair for myself for the past few years. Will that count as verifyable or will that get me sent home?

    5. Can she choose to be put with a female trainer or is it "you get what you get"?

Thanks for any help we can get. We are nervous as I am sure anyone making a major career and life change like this should be.

also we were curious about what type of funds we will need starting out before we get paid. Like for showers and food mainly. how long should we plan on having to support ourselves before making a dollar?

All depends... Are you a type of person that likes to snack or only eats big meals ? :)

When I first started (all 3 months ago) I was spending , typically, around 10 dollars a day and 16 dollars every two days (pack cigerattes that day). You get paid 58$ for 7 days each week. Even if you khave to spend some time in a hotel while your trainer is taking home time.

As far as Planning to have cash-on-hand/ saved. That is a a question no one here can answer. You could be lucky, and be paired with a trainer after orientation, or they'll send you home for a week to wait for one (you don't get paid for waiting). My suggestion: make sure you can pay the bills for one month before heading to orientation.

thanks young gun. the bills being paid are no problem and i'm hoping whatever trainer i get will have a fridge so i can bring some lunch meat or something. I plan to quit smoking before i start because i don't want to sit there in that seat and smoke myself to emphyzima or something. I was also wondering i read someone talking about something called wia funding?? what is that?

I am not sure... If you didn't report any of your revenue to the IRS... And you indeed have your own business which was contributing to the house income... Umm... I am no CPA, but I would ask someone more qualified, perhaps your recruiter.

As for WIA... Ummmmmm... I probably know what it is, but it escapes me.

I was self-employed for 10 years, paid taxes and everything.....had to have a copy of my Schedule C, letters from the bank and customers stating the date I shut the business down.

WIA is Workforce Investment Act and is usually used to pay for school.

Yes. You are better off just saying you were unemployed. That's what I did.
