Generally speaking, in my experience, yes. Stainless steel cups have always seemed to last longer in all applications I've used them in. Had an mp8 that had multiple issues with the brass/copper cups and switched to the stainless steel everything was good.

I guess my question would be why is there an option if the stainless are that much better?

Can't be cheap enough to make any worth while difference in the final bill.....

There has to be a plausible reason if Volvo still sells them both. (Not sure they do but it sure seems like it)

had an '08 D-13 that went through 3 sets of injectors. 2 under warranty. don't remember what the cost difference was.

Volvo tried to get us to replace with stainless, but nooooo, had to go cheap.

The best part with copper is that you can replace just the cups and don’t need to replace injectors with stainless you have no choice I would still take the copper if there was a choice much cheaper to fix being that stainless has almost same intervals of failure just cost 3 times as much being that you have to replace injectors as well

Can you use the newer style push through tool or is the pull through type better on copper?

Copper can only be installed with the pull thru tool never have I tried using the push tool so I couldn’t tell you if usable or no.
